The Los Angeles Rams only got to see rookie second-round draft pick and tight end Terrance Ferguson, but he quickly showed why they were so eager to bring him in. Then, the No. 46 overall pick of the 2025 draft got together with his old QB.
Ferguson recorded his only two receptions of the preseason in the Rams’ finale against the Cleveland Browns.
He took them for 48 yards. His first went for a 33-yard gain, which garnered plenty of attention.
“Is that a Rams TE stretching the field, catching an explosive?” the Rams Bros. posted on X on August 23.
“Pretty cool from a tight end! Terrance Ferguson going to be a thing no later than 2026,” Fantasy Life’s Ian Hartitz posted on X on August 24, which could be even longer than the Rams have in mind for the youngster.
Terrance Ferguson Links Up With Former Ducks QB Dillon Gabriel

After the game, Ferguson reunited with one of his former college quarterbacks, Browns rookie third-round selection Dillon Gabriel.
Ferguson, who also played with current Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix, the most experienced passer in NCAA history, set career highs of 43 receptions and 591 yards with Gabriel, adding 3 touchdowns in 2024.
The Rams commemorated the on-field moment, posting “SCO’ing pro [duck emoji]” on X.
Gabriel is mired in a battle with fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders (fifth-round) in one of the more polarizing backup quarterback battles in the league.
Ferguson and the Rams avoided their own quarterback controversy this offseason, first with LA reworking Matthew Stafford’s contract, ensuring the two-time Pro Bowler would return for the 2025 season, and then with his return from a back injury that limited him in training camp.
Terrance Ferguson Gets Honest About NFL Debut

Ferguson spoke candidly about his pro debut, which came more than two weeks before he will have another opportunity to showcase his skills in the regular season, when it will count.
“It felt really good to be out there with the guys again, be able to play football. It’s such a blessing to be out there whenever you are. So, just – it felt really good to be back,” Ferguson told reporters before explaining how different the pros are from even big college games.
“You look at the logos on the helmets, it just means a little more. It’s a dream as a kid to come play in the NFL. So, I think a little bit, but I played in some big games and just being able to develop and learn from the guys that I got in my room and be able to learn and practice against some of the best players in the NFL. So, it’s kind of mix of both.”
He also said he felt good coming out of the game when asked about his health.
Ferguson lamented thinking he was already out of bounds on his 33-yarder, saying he now knows he could have gotten up and continued for a potential touchdown. But Ferguson showed what Rams general manager Les Snead meant when speaking about his fit during the game.
Ferguson and the Rams will open the 2025 regular season at home against the Houston Texans on September 7.
