The Los Angeles Rams have one of the better wide receiver duos with third-year Puka Nacua and new signing Davante Adams.
Resigning Tutu Atwell and having second-year Jordan Whittington on the roster, the main group of the wide receiver position appears set.
With most of the upper wide receiver depth to play in limited or no snaps at all, it allows the rest of the receivers to impress for their shot to make the 53-man roster.
Rams Wire’s Cameron DaSilva listed the 242nd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Konata Mumpfield, as a player to watch in the first preseason week.
“We’ve heard for the last month how sharp Mumpfield’s routes are and now we’ll get to see them on full display Saturday night. He should get plenty of work as one of the primary receivers on offense this preseason, though his playing time could dwindle if he shines early on and locks up a spot on the depth chart,” DaSilva wrote.
“We can’t wait to see how he does against other cornerbacks besides the Rams’, who Davante Adams says he’s seen Mumpfield “kill” in practice. It’ll be fun to see him in a game setting for the first time since college.”
Shining During Training Camp

Konata Mumpfield registered over 2,600 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns during his college tenure, including 813 yards and 5 touchdowns in his final collegiate season.
The former Pittsburgh receiver carried that into training camp, impressing head coach Sean McVay and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.
“He just understands football,” LaFleur said, via Sports Illustrated. “He understands stems. He understands angles. He has a great feel for space and a knack for space. His route tempo changes. He’s catching the ball great. He’s fearless in terms of going over the middle and stuff like that. Obviously, that’ll have to come to fruition when we get into real games when safeties and linebackers can actually light you up and stuff like that. I think from his college film and what I’ve seen from his demeanor, I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.”
“Most importantly, he’s just fitting in with guys. He’s a very mature rookie. I am really excited about ‘Mump’.”
Mumpfield mentioned that he has also been learning from six-time Pro Bowler Adams in his time in Los Angeles.
Konata Mumpfield In The Preseason

Having held joint practices with the Dallas Cowboys, the Rams will also face the NFC East opponent in the first preseason game.
Getting reps during preseason will be vital for Konata Mumpfield, as quarterback Matthew Stafford is currently absent due to a back injury, leaving the backups to step up.
Mumpfield has been training with QB Stetson Bennett, forming a connection with him throughout camp.
Bennett will see a good number of snaps against the Cowboys and will likely target Mumpfield multiple times during the game.
If the seventh-round rookie can have himself a good preseason overall, he could find himself on the opening week 53-man roster.
