The start to the 2025-26 season couldn’t have gone any better for wide receiver Puka Nacua.
The Los Angeles Rams are currently 3-1 after defeating the Indianapolis Colts to give them their first loss of the season, with Nacua having the best game of his career, hauling in 170 receiving yards and a touchdown pass.
Nacua has 500 receiving yards in the first four games of the season, leading the league in yards and receptions — the wide receiver has a single touchdown reception so far.
The former BYU Cougars’ start to the 2025 season is reminiscent of his rookie year. Puka brought in 501 receiving yards in four games in his first season in the league. Now in his third season, the WR has 503 yards.
Nacua can thank quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has been the one to sling the ball to him both seasons.
Stafford recently made an appearance on the Pat McAfee show and discussed his teammates’ start to the season.

Matthew Stafford is no stranger when it comes to historic milestones in the NFL.
The quarterback was behind the man throwing the ball to Calvin Johnson and Cooper Kupp, who have the most receiving yards in a season, at one and two, respectively.
Host Pat McAfee asked Stafford about his connection with Puka and 500 yards to the season, with the Ram praising the young receiver.
“It’s pretty cool. He’s a special player. Obviously, had an unbelievable rookie campaign, set some records there,” Stafford said. “He’s only built on that. So, just continue to try and find him when we can and let him do his thing.”
“I’m just so happy to play with guys like that. You named three pretty unbelievable players right there. And so I was lucky enough to play with all of them.”
Breaking 2K Receiving Yards

As mentioned earlier, Matthew Stafford was the quarterback behind Calvin Johnson’s 1,964 and Cooper Kupp’s 1,947 receiving yard seasons.
After Puka Nacua’s performance this season so far, some can speculate that he can be the first receiver in NFL history to get over 2,000 receiving yards.
With Stafford throwing the ball to him, it could be possible.
In Puka’s rookie season, he hauled in 1,486 receiving yards while being the number 2 receiving option when Kupp wasn’t injured. Now the number one target in Los Angeles, the wide receiver could achieve the historic milestone.
Stafford currently has the second-most passing yards in the league with 1,114 yards, with almost half of that going to Nacua.
Now add Davante Adams to the mix, who can draw defenders from Puka and let him have some room to run around; it could happen.
Nacua is currently on track to have more than 2,000 yards this season.
