Rams UDFA Named Player To Be Excited About After Preseason

The Los Angeles Rams have released its 53-man roster for the 2025-26 season, featuring an undrafted free agent making the squad.

Linebacker Shaun Dolac from the University of Buffalo will begin his first season in the NFL as a member of the Rams defense after going undrafted.

With the Dolac making the final roster, Turf Show Times’ Jason Dalessandro names the linebacker as a player to be excited for.

“This feels like an obvious choice at this point, and it feels like that because Dolac has played so well during his time on the field. The undrafted rookie out of the University of Buffalo amassed 14 total tackles in two games and showed a clear understanding of the Rams defense,” Dalessandro wrote. “Dolac was not given any snaps in the team’s final preseason game, which would normally be a bad thing for an undrafted player, but in Dolac’s case it’s because he was too busy getting first team reps in practice this week.”

Six of Dolac’s tackles in the preseason were solo tackles, showing he can get offensive players down in one-on-one situations.

Dolac receiving first-team reps signifies that he could have a notable role in the Rams’ defense this upcoming season, as the former Buffalo Bull has also been wearing the green dot on his helmet.

Shaun Dolac receiving first team reps easily implies that he impressed the coaching staff.

Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula emphasized the importance of young players communicating with the team during practice and providing them with opportunities.

“Just trying to give them all opportunities,” Shula said, via Sports Illustrated. “A lot of those guys as a young guy, would probably be in with a guy that doesn’t have the green dots… You give him a chance to just worry about his responsibilities, not have to worry about giving everybody the call.”

“The same thing with Shaun, just moving around, giving those guys equal opportunity to show that they can communicate and do have the green dot and that when they don’t have it, they can just focus on their job.”

SI’s Brock Vierra calls Dolac an impressive talent who beat out other players for a roster spot.

Dolac On Why He Signed With Rams

Shaun Dolac went undrafted and was allowed to sign with whatever team he wanted as an UDFA.

The Linebacker listed playing under Rams head coach Sean McVay as a reason why he wanted to sign with Los Angeles.

“The thing that really drew me to the Rams was the high energy and passion that not just the players play with, but the coaches as well. You see it from the top down, starting with Coach McVay. Being able to play under a high-intensity, high-passion coach is what I was looking for,” Dolac said, via LAFB Network

Now getting the opportunity to play in a regular season game under McVay, Dolac finds himself set to have quite a productive rookie season in LA.
