Rams WR Davante Adams Sends Strong Message on Matthew Stafford Connection

The Los Angeles Rams have become a heavyweight in the NFC once again, with Sean McVay’s squad sporting a 5-2 record while competing in one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL during the 2025 campaign seven weeks in.

After losing to the division rival San Francisco 49ers a few weeks ago in an overtime thriller that came down to the wire, the Rams have bounced back with a vengeance, with two straight wins. The team made easy work of the Baltimore Ravens (17-3) and followed that up with dominant performance overseas against the Jacksonville Jaguars (35-7).

The offense has been firing on all cylinders with Matthew Stafford playing at a high level while the defense has stepped up, resulting in well-rounded performances every week. With Puka Nacua continuing dealing with an ankle injury, veteran Davante Adams had his best performance with the Rams, catching three touchdown passes.

After a three-touchdown performance against the Jaguars, Adams opened up about his connection with Stafford during the 2025 NFL season a team press conference.

“Just like anything and the way that we go about it,” Adams said. “Not that we haven’t been practicing hard and well, just the intentionality. I told you guys earlier in the week, I wasn’t satisfied with the efficiency, specifically him targetting me. Whatever it has been, some of it has been me and some of it has been the throw, but just figuring it out and getting on the right page.

“I take a lot of pride in what I do and the product I’m able to help put on the field. There was some texting going on and us talking through some things, even before the Baltimore [Ravens] game just working on a few things.”

Adams has nothing but respect for Stafford, who he refers to as a “killer” when McVay need his star quarterback to step up, as he’s easily one of the most clutch performers in the league.

“He’s a killer,” Adams said. “That’s what killers do, they go out and kill. It’s never easy when you are operating in the elements like that, but we started off a little slow he and I, but the rest of the offense was rolling, so we were able to keep the ball moving and found our opportunities in there and took advantage.”

If these two can continue to play on the same page along with Nacua getting back healthy, the Rams could be a scary team in the NFC moving forward.

Along with Adams showing his respect for Stafford, the veteran quarterback also praised his Rams teammate in a team press conference.

“Davante is as good a receiver that has been in this league for a long time,” Stafford said. “I’m really happy for his day. He did a nice job, obviously getting open and making some great plays in the red zone — putting the ball in the red zone for us.

“We’re lucky to have him and just happy that we got it done.”

The Rams will now head into their bye week in Week 8, which is ideal timing considering the overseas trip they just went through and Nacua getting more time to heal his ailing ankle.

In Week 9, the Rams will host the New Orleans Saints at SoFi Stadium in hopes of getting their sixth win of the season.
