Ravens Get Encouraging Injury Updates Before Chiefs Showdown

The Baltimore Ravens aren’t facing a must win game in Week 4, even if it seems like it because they’re 1-2 and traveling to face the Kansas City Chiefs.

Still, if the Ravens want to keep a growing chorus of doubters off their backs they’re going to need all hands on deck and the team got some encouraging injury news on Friday with the return of 2 starters to practice.

“Two key Ravens returned to the practice field Friday ahead of Sunday’s big game in Kansas City,” Ravens.com’s Ryan Mink wrote on September 26. “Outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy (hamstring) and left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle) were both on the field and in uniform during the early portion of practice. Stanley was working with a Ravens trainer on a separate field from the rest of the offensive line. Van Noy was going through a workout near the defensive linemen. It remains to be seen if they could make a quick return to play against the Chiefs, but it’s at least good news to see them back on the field.”

Stanley signed a 3-year, $60 million contract extension with the Ravens in March that included $44 million in guaranteed money.

Van Noy, who led the Ravens with 12.5 sacks in 2024, played the first 2 games of the season but was on the sideline for a 38-30 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 3.

Initial Reports on Van Noy Said Multiple Games

It would be a huge boost to get Van Noy back against the Chiefs after initial reports said he would miss multiple games.

“Ravens Pro Bowl edge rusher Kyle Van Noy is bracing to potentially miss multiple games due to a hamstring injury suffered Sunday, per source,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler wrote on his official X account on September 15. “Van Noy, who led the team in sacks (12.5) last year, is hoping the injury is short-term.”

Van Noy, who is in his 12th NFL season, won 2 Super Bowls with the New England Patriots following the 2016 and 2019 seasons. He’s in the final season of a 2-year, $9 million contract he signed with the Ravens in March 2024 and has approximately $52 million in career earnings.

Stanley Protects Blind Side for 2-Time NFL MVP

If you were going to have to pick between either getting Van Noy or Stanley back against the Chiefs, it’s a no brainer to go with Stanley as he protects the blind side of 2-time NFL MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Stanley’s big payday came after he made some team friendly financial moves in the past.

“Stanley took a 50 percent pay cut last June, dropping his 2024 salary from $15 million to $7.5 million,” Heavy.com’s Trevor Williamson wrote on July 18. “He more than made up for it with his on-field performance. The 9-year Ravens veteran played his first full season in 2024. He started all 17 games and earned his second Pro Bowl nod at age 30. He played the most offensive snaps (1,089) of his career last year, surpassing his total from 2021 through 2023 (982).”

Stanley was a first round pick (No. 6 overall) by the Ravens in the 2016 NFL draft. He’s a 2-time Pro Bowler and earned NFL All-Pro honors in 2019.
