Ravens Legend Blasts Jerry Jones After Cowboys Trade Micah Parsons

The Dallas Cowboys were dealt a major blow ahead of the 2025 campaign when they sent superstar linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in a blockbuster trade. With just two days before their season-opener against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys find themselves in a very difficult position.

Replacing Parsons is going to be a nearly impossible task considering all that he’s accomplished in his first four seasons in the NFL. If you ask Baltimore Ravens legend Terrell Suggs, though, Dallas has bigger fish to fry involving their owner, Jerry Jones, whose controversial tactics have once again made him the laughingstock of the league.

All offseason long, Parsons wasn’t shy about voicing his desire for a new contract from the Cowboys. After racking up 52.5 sacks in his first four seasons, which earned him four Pro Bowl selections, a spot on the All-Pro First Team twice, and the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year Award, it wasn’t too hard to understand why Parsons wanted a new deal as he prepared to enter the last year of his rookie contract.

After enduring long, drawn-out contract negotiations with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, Parsons’ talks once again dragged into training camp. This time, though, he took things a step further, requesting a trade from the team when he decided that the talks were not progressing as he had hoped.

Nobody ever really expected Parsons would get traded, but sure enough, Jones decided to cut bait, sending him to the Packers in exchange for two first-round picks and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Not only does Suggs think the Parsons trade is horrible for the Cowboys, but he also believes that the team will not win anything until Jones is no longer in charge.

“Jerry Jones – I call him Calvin Candie. As long as he’s in his role, [the Cowboys] are never gonna win the Super Bowl,” Suggs said in an interview with Ben Mendelowitz of The Action Network. “You know the definition of insanity, right? To do the same thing over and over and expect different results. Y’all haven’t been in the show since ‘95. Let’s be honest, he needs to remove himself, take his ego out of it and let someone who could see it kind of with fresh eyes.”

Jones has unsurprisingly received quite a bit of backlash for his decision to trade away Parsons. At just 26 years old, Parsons is already one of the most accomplished players in the league, and while his ensuing four-year, $186 million contract extension with the Packers is quite expensive, it’s also fair to assume he will end up being worth every penny of that deal.

In the wake of this move, the Cowboys have tried to remain positive, but it’s tough to feel good about their prospects in the 2025 campaign without their top defensive player. Dallas will open the new season with a tough task against Philadelphia right out of the gate, and if they struggle in their first few contests, things could spiral out of control quickly.
