Ravens Star Mark Andrews Refutes Fake Quote About Charlie Kirk

The Baltimore Ravens picked up their first win of the 2025 campaign in Week 2 with a 41-17 demolition of the Cleveland Browns. And yet, even with this win, the team has a bit of a problem with star tight end Mark Andrews, as they have struggled to find a way to get him involved in the offense through their first two games.

After dropping a potential game-tying two-point conversion in the Ravens’ Divisional Round playoff matchup with the Buffalo Bills last season, Andrews has limped out to a slow start in 2025, catching just two passes for seven yards in Baltimore’s first two games. Now, he has another problem to deal with, as a fake quote about Charlie Kirk that is being attributed to him has gone viral on social media, prompting him to address the situation.

Mark Andrews Calls Out Fake Charlie Kirk Quote

Andrews broke into the league when he was selected by the Ravens in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s gone on to turn himself into one of the top tight ends in the league, earning three Pro Bowl selections and a spot on the All-Pro First Team in 2021. However, with the emergence of Isaiah Likely at tight end and the arrival of Derrick Henry at running back, Andrews has taken on a smaller role in Baltimore’s offense in recent seasons.

Earlier this month, many folks in the United States were shocked when controversial political activist Charlie Kirk was murdered while hosting an event at Utah Valley University. Many athletes have chimed in on Kirk’s death, and it initially seemed like Andrews made some eye-opening comments on the situation recently.

An account on X under the name of @JDunlap1974 recently went viral for claiming that Andrews weighed in on Kirk’s death by saying, “Football should be about the game, the competition, and the fans – not politics. Stop bringing up Charlie Kirk, because it has nothing to do with what we do on the field.” Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for this to make its way back to Andrews, and he quickly refuted the notion that he ever said this.

“This is 100% fabricated. You got the wrong person,” Andrews said in reply to this post on X.

Mark Andrews, Ravens Turning Their Attention Towards Week 3 Action

Andrews obviously found himself in an undesirable position, as he was getting called out by folks for controversial comments he didn’t even make. He quickly defused the situation, but it certainly isn’t fun having people put words into your mouth, especially when it revolves around the death of Kirk, which is a very sensitive subject.

With this incident in the rearview mirror now, Andrews can turn his full attention towards Week 3, where the Ravens will take on the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m., and considering how much firepower Detroit has on offense, Baltimore may need a big game from Andrews if they want any shot of walking out of this one with a win.
