Real Madrid could make a shock move for an Arsenal star whose contract negotiations are ‘not going well’ according to reports.

It’s set to be a big summer for both clubs who ended up having underwhelming seasons, finishing runners-up in the Premier League and La Liga.

Arsenal are close to securing a £51million transfer for midfielder Martin Zubimendi and are planning to spend big on a new striker, likely to be either Benjamin Sesko or Viktor Gyokeres.

Real meanwhile have a new manager as Xabi Alonso replaces Carlo Ancelotti and the Spaniard has already made his first signing in the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back was set to move to Madrid on a free but Los Blancos will now pay Liverpool £8.4m to sign him early so he can play in the upcoming Club World Cup.

Real have also been linked with making a big money move for William Saliba, but they now have their eye on another Arsenal defender.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has just 12 months left on his Gunners contract and, as reported by The Guardian, talks over a new deal are ‘not going well’.

Real are keeping tabs on the situation and could look to sign another England star following Jude Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold.

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s breakout season

18-year-old Lewis-Skelly has enjoyed a meteoric rise since his senior debut last September, making 39 appearances across all competitions, including two stunning performances against Real in the Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel is certainly a fan, selecting the teenager in his first England squad in March before he scored on his debut against Albania.

Myles Lewis-Skelly named Young Player of the Season

While bizarrely not nominated for the official award, both Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher named Lewis-Skelly as their young player of the season.

‘At 18 you’re a baby,’ Liverpool hero Carragher said on Sky Sports.

‘The thought you could win Young Player of the Year at that age. That’s something that Michael Owen does or Wayne Rooney, absolute superstars.

‘I couldn’t believe he wasn’t on that list. The reason I went for him was how well he played in big games that I’ve watched. Against Man City, against Liverpool, in the Bernabeu [against Real].’

‘That [left-back] has been a massive problem position for Arsenal and he’s gone in and looked like it’s his and he’s always been there,’ Manchester United legend Neville added.

‘That’s the biggest compliment you can give to a young player, they just slot in. [Bukayo] Saka’s done it in the last few years. To go in that position and do what he’s done.’

Lewis-Skelly’s efforts have been all the more impressive given that he came through the academy as a midfielder but has played almost exclusively as a left-back under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal will be desperate to tie him down to a new deal and they are also in contract talks with fellow wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri.

The likes of Lewis-Skelly and Alexander-Arnold will next be in action when England take on Andorra in a World Cup qualifier on June 7.
