Real Madrid trigger special clause to sign Joselu on permanent transfer – but he won’t play for them again

REAL MADRID have triggered the option to buy Joselu from Espanyol – only to sell him immediately.

The Spanish striker joined Los Blancos on a season-long loan last summer and went on to make 49 appearances.

He scored 17 goals and provided three assists during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, winning both the Champions League and La Liga.

But Joselu is set to move on this summer – despite making his loan move permanent with Real Madrid.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Carlo Ancelotti’s side triggered his £1.27million option to buy clause.

However, the La Liga giants have already agreed to sell him for the same price to Qatari side Al Gharafa.

Real Madrid will not make any money from the deal.

Joselu is set to sign a two-year deal with his new club and Marca claim he will earn £7.2m in the Middle East.

Fans took to social media to react to the shock move, with one person writing: “Joselu came, trashed Bayern, scored some vital La Liga goals, won UCL and the league, left for Middle East money, streets will never forget, gracias.”

While another commented: “This guy conquered Europe and left within a season .”
