The Los Angeles Clippers are nearing the end of their championship window.
Kawhi Leonard and James Harden are 34 and 36, respectively, and they currently boast one of the league’s oldest ever rosters with an average age of 33.2.
They’ve gotten off to a decent start in the 2025-26 season, splitting their first four games to the tune of a 2-2 record.
But questions remain: is the current roster good enough to contend with the likes of the Oklahoma City Thunder or even the Denver Nuggets?
Time is running out on their chances at making the franchise’s first NBA Finals, and it could be time to take a swing at the fences for one more shot at a ring.
Clippers Trade Proposal Lands 76ers’ Joel Embiid
In an incredibly risky trade idea from Fadeaway World, the Los Angeles Clippers could swing a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers for former league MVP Joel Embiid.
Los Angeles Clippers receive: Joel Embiid
Philadelphia 76ers receive: Ivica Zubac, John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, 2031 first-round pick
Trading for Embiid would be taking one of the largest risks in league history, but if it works out, the reward would be astronomical.
“While Embiid hasn’t necessarily settled into a groove, it is a well-known fact that, when healthy, the 76ers superstar is one of the best big men in the league,” wrote Siddhant Gupta.
“His constant run-ins with injuries have impacted his consistency. But after back-to-back 20+ point outings this season, Joel Embiid seems to be finding his groove again.”
“With an average of 16.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists on 45.9% shooting from the field and 37.5% from deep, Embiid could effectively transform L.A.’s starting lineup to turn them into a true contender.”
We know for a fact that an Embiid-Harden pairing works wonders on the court.
Both stars thrived together in Philadelphia for two seasons before Harden was traded to the Clippers in 2023.
While Los Angeles’ overall defense would take a hit with the departure of Ivica Zubac, their offense would be a sight to behold.
Would the 76ers Make the Deal?
The Philadelphia 76ers may have some buyer’s remorse from handing Embiid a three-year $188 million extension before the 2024-25 NBA season.
He ended up only playing 19 games thanks to nagging injuries.
The 2022-23 league MVP has had great moments throughout his storied career, but the fact of the matter is, Philadelphia has young stars they can build around now and could afford to part with “The Process.”
Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Quentin Grimes, and Jared McCain are all under the age of 26 and, at various points, have all displayed tantalizing upside.
It’s safe to say the Sixers would be in good hands if they decided to part ways with Embiid.
In fact, according to former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins, Philadelphia has begun those conversations internally about the big man’s future with the organization.
“I’m pretty sure the front office is having talks about it, what it looks like, what the possibility is, and should we consider closing this door moving forward,” Cousins said on the Run it Back show.
After all the investments into Embiid and his tenure in Philadelphia, it would not be surprising if the Sixers’ brass were fed up with their former No. 3 pick in the 2014 draft.
