The 25-year-old is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with rape.

Appo is also accused of sexual assault on a female and two counts of assault.

The forward plays internationally for Papua New Guinea and represented the team in the 2022 Rugby League World Cup.

Appo has also made 61 appearances for the Bradford Bulls after joining the Rugby League club two years ago.

He signed a new two-year deal in August but this has since been ripped up.

The Bulls said today: “Following today’s West Yorkshire Police statement, the Bradford Bulls have cancelled Keven Appo’s playing contract.

“Given the circumstances, the club is duty bound to make no further comment at this stage.

“The search for a suitable, quality replacement is underway.”

West Yorkshire Police confirmed Appo has been charged with “multiple sexual offences”.

The force added: “He has been bailed and is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court on Monday 6th January 2025.

“The charges relate to an investigation by Calderdale District Adult Protection Team following a report made in April 2024.”
