San Francisco 49ers Sign Super Bowl Champ To Bolster Defense Amid Flurry Of Roster Moves

On Wednesday August 13, 2025, NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported the San Francisco 49ers are signing defensive end Demone Harris.

Harris, 29, is a journeyman EDGE rusher entering his seventh NFL season in 2025. He was part of the Kansas City Chiefs team that beat the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV following the 2019 season.

Harris was an All-Conference player in college at Buffalo, but went undrafted in 2018 and has bounced around to six different NFL teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons. 2024 was his best season yet, however. He appeared in 9 games for the Falcons and set a new career high in tackles.

The 49ers are dealing with a lot of injuries at defensive line, so Harris will immediately have a great chance at making the regular season roster.

49ers Signed Another Defensive Lineman

Demone Harris wasn’t the only defensive end that the 49ers brought in on Wednesday. They are also signing EDGE rusher William Bradley-King to a contract, Aaron Wilson reported.

Bradley-King is 27 years old. He hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since 2022 with the Washington Commanders, but he has spent time with the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins organizations.

Bradley-King was drafted in the seventh round by Washington back in 2021 out of Baylor. Before that, he spent time at Arkansas State, where he was a two-time All-Conference player.

Bradley-King and Harris worked out alongside one more defensive lineman, Keshawn Banks. Banks was the only one of the trio not signed.

Like Harris, Bradley-King steps into 49ers training camp with a great shot to compete for a spot on the 49ers’ regular season roster.

49ers Also Add A Wide Receiver

Finally, the 49ers also picked up wide receiver Malik Turner. Turner worked out alongside three other wide receivers for the 49ers on Tuesday August 12, 2025.

The 49ers also have desperate injury issues at wide receiver, with only 1 healthy first or second string wideout, so they have rotated several receivers in and out of camp throughout the offseason.

This will be Turner’s third stint with San Francisco. He spent time on the practice squad during the 2022 season and the 2024 season. The 3 games he appeared in with the 49ers in 2022 are his most recent NFL games.

The 49ers continue to deal with a rash of injuries unlike anyone else is dealing with across the NFL. Their depth is already shaky after such a tough offseason losing so many star players. Injury is being added to insult right now.

The bright side is that so many underdog players like Harris, Bradley-King and Turner get a shot to crack the 49ers roster. That’s what makes training camp and the NFL preseason fun as a fan, watching all of the underdog stories unfold.

The 49ers have the ultimate underdog in their leader, quarterback Brock Purdy. Maybe he will inspire some of these castoffs to rally around him and carry the 49ers to the playoffs.

49ers fans, what do you think of the Niners’ most recent signings? Will any of them make the 2025 roster?
