San Francisco Giants Finally Answer An Age-Old Question About Their Franchise

In a legendary WFAN call in to the Mike Francesca show back in 2015, a fan named Dan in Warwick posed a deeply philosophical and thought provoking question.

“In your years of experience, have you ever seen the San Francisco Giants and the New York Giants, has there ever been either a franchise to franchise or maybe even player to player get together when San Francisco comes to New York?” he asked Francesca.

That question went unanswered for an entire decade, but on Monday August 4, 2025, Dan in Warwick finally got the answer he was looking for.

Through a series of videos and photos posted on both the San Francisco Giants and New York Giants social media accounts, the two franchises let fans in on a “Giants Annual Meetup” between the two teams.

This meeting allegedly took place while the baseball Giants were in town to face the New York Mets August 1-3. San Francisco Giants franchise players Logan Webb and Matt Chapman hung out with New York Giants legends Eli Manning and Shaun O’Hara for brunch (and a special episode of the Eli Manning show).

Perhaps the best piece of content to come out of the gathering was a video featuring Francesca walking in on the brunch, finding out at long last that the Giants and Giants really do meet up.

Maybe next year, as the video suggests, the two franchises will meet up for a picnic or relay race.

Manning Breaks Down Webb’s QB Film

Another great moment that came out of the Giants-Giants meetup was Eli Manning watching and breaking down videos of baseball Giants pitcher Logan Webb’s old quarterback film.

Webb was a dual-threat QB at Rocklin High School in Rocklin, CA. He started at signal caller for the Thunder during both his junior and senior seasons.

Manning shouted Webb out for wearing No. 10 on the gridiron, which Eli famously wore throughout his career with New York.

Webb’s highlight reel showcased a lot of Webb’s skill moving outside of the pocket, running the football as well as throwing on the run.

“Nice pocket movement, rolling on the right,” Manning said at one point during the clip. “That looks pretty good. Were you recruited to play in college?”

Webb answered that he did a little bit, but not as much as baseball.

Manning also teased Webb a little bit because he didn’t have many deep passes on his highlight reel, and told him he thinks he made the right choice sticking with baseball.

What’s Going to be the Next Franchise Meetup After the Giants?

Let’s face it — running social media for a sports team is an imitation game. It’s only a matter of time before more sports franchises with the same name conduct a similar meetup.

So who’s going to do it next. The NFL’s Arizona Cardinals and the MLB’s St. Louis Cardinals? The baseball Texas Rangers and the hockey New York Rangers? The New York Jets of the NFL and the Winnipeg Jets of the NHL?

The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) seem like a logical candidate to meet up with the Sacramento Kings (NBA) given that they play in the same state and probably cross paths playing in the same city several times in any given sports year.

But my prediction is that the first copycats (pun intended) will be the Florida Panthers (NHL) meeting up with the Carolina Panthers (NFL). The hockey Panthers are always trying to innovate on their social media and this seems like a perfect opportunity to do something fun.

Giants fans, what did you think of the Giants x Giants annual meetup? Do you want to see them do it again next season?
