Seahawks’ Cooper Kupp Has Perfect Joke Amid Rams Tribute Video Buzz in Week 11

There’s no official word the Los Angeles Rams will run an in-stadium tribute for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp this Sunday, but the rumor reached Kupp – and he laughed it off: “I didn’t die” he joked in front of a room full of reporters.

The homecoming storyline is real: Kupp signed with Seattle in March and returns to face his former team in L.A. on November 16.

Rams Tribute Talk Reaches Cooper Kupp

GettyIt will be a return back to face the team he won a Super Bowl with for Cooper Kupp when the Seahawks face the Rams.

Asked about chatter that SoFi might show a Kupp video before kickoff, the Super Bowl LVI MVP kept it light – “I didn’t die” – while also stressing he’s grateful for his Rams years and still has “nothing but love” for the city. There’s been no announcement from the Rams about an in-game tribute as of November 12. The franchise already produced “thank you” content when Kupp departed in March, underscoring his legacy without confirming any new game-day plans for Week 11.

Rams head coach Sean McVay has publicly called Kupp a “legacy” type player and, this week, acknowledged the love for Kupp while emphasizing the focus on Rams-Seahawks. Expect warm acknowledgement from fans – formal video or not.

What It Means for Seattle & the Game

For the Seahawks, the storyline is nice, but the mission is simple: win a key NFC West tilt. Kupp has quickly become a featured target in Seattle’s remodeled offense after agreeing to a three-year, $45 million deal in March. Whether there’s a tribute or not, the emotional return doesn’t change Seattle’s plan to feed Kupp early and often.

Kupp may have received some reinforcements in the receiver’s room, too. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said this week that Jake Bobo would return to practice. Bobo has not played since October 20 when the Seahawks defeated the Texans 27-19.

For the Rams, any pregame nod would be a bridge to the past, then it’s straight to preventing explosive plays. McVay’s message this week: appreciate Kupp’s impact, but keep the main thing the main thing – slowing Seattle’s passing game and winning the situational downs.

Stats, Schedule & Context

Matchup: Seahawks at Rams – November 16, 4:05 PM EST, SoFi Stadium.

Kupp to Seattle: Agreed to 3 years/$45M in March after his Rams exit.

Recent form: Seahawks 7-2 and winners of four in a row; Rams 7-2 and also on a four-game winning streak.

Last week: Seahawks defeated the Cardinals 44-22, while the Rams beat the 49ers 42-26. .

Kupp recent highlight: 67-yard catch last week that popped on social media, and drew some more light-hearted comments from Kupp.

Bottom Line

The answer to the question—Will the Rams do a Cooper Kupp tribute video?—is uncertain as of midweek. But Kupp’s reaction – “I didn’t die” – sets the tone: enjoy the moment, then line up and play. Either way, his first game back in L.A. as a Seahawk is appointment viewing for both fanbases.

And while Kupp is appreciative of his time in LA, he was sure to remind everybody that he will be locked in come kickoff time.

“You can’t make this game about yourself,” Kupp said. “It’s a team game.”
