Seahawks Get Major DeMarcus Lawrence News During Playoff Push

The Seattle Seahawks got more good news on December 23 when DeMarcus Lawrence was named to the NFC roster for the 2026 Pro Bowl Games, and the selection also comes with a financial reward written into his contract.

Seattle announced Lawrence as one of six Seahawks picked for the Pro Bowl Games, a group that reflects how dominant the team has been this season. The Seahawks are 12-3, have already clinched a playoff berth, and are sitting in first place in the NFC West heading into the final stretch.

Lawrence’s nod matters for more than bragging rights. According to Spotrac’s listed Seahawks incentives for 2025, Lawrence has a Pro Bowl incentive worth $500,000. In other words: make the Pro Bowl, cash the bonus.

It is the fifth time Lawrence has been selected to the Pro Bowl, and the first time he’s made the list since 2023.

Also representing the Seahawks on the Pro Bowl list: Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Leonard Williams, Devon Witherspoon, and Rashid Shaheed.

Seahawks’ DeMarcus Lawrence gets Pro Bowl honor after instant impact season

When Seattle signed Lawrence in free agency, the move came with expectations, especially considering his long track record as a disruptive defender. He agreed to a three-year deal with Seattle after spending his entire career with the Dallas Cowboys.

He hasn’t taken long to justify the investment.

In Seattle’s Pro Bowl announcement, the Seahawks highlighted Lawrence as a “playmaker and leader,” noting his production includes 10 tackles for loss (tied for team lead), 18 quarterback hits (second on the team), 5.0 sacks, 46 tackles, and two forced fumbles.

Lawrence also turned two fumble recoveries into two touchdowns in a single game earlier this season, earning a Defensive Player of the Week award for his monstrous game.

The splash plays have been there, too. One of those forced fumbles was so memorable that Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald called it “probably my new favorite play of all time.”

The Pro Bowl bonus is a real contract “win” for Lawrence

The bonus angle is what turns this into a true “today” story.

Spotrac’s incentive list for Seattle shows Lawrence’s Pro Bowl trigger at $500,000, which means his selection doesn’t just come with recognition, it comes with a direct, measurable payday tied to performance and awards.

That’s also why Pro Bowl nods still matter to veterans, even in the modern era where the game itself has changed format and many stars opt out. There is literally money behind it in certain contracts.

What it means for Seattle as the playoffs get closer

For the Seahawks, the bigger takeaway is simple: Lawrence isn’t just a rotational add-on; he’s been productive enough to land among the conference’s recognized defenders while Seattle chases postseason seeding.

Seattle’s Pro Bowl release also noted the 2026 Pro Bowl Games will be held as part of Super Bowl week festivities, featuring a 7-on-7 flag football game on February 3 in San Francisco ahead of Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara.

If Seattle’s season keeps rolling, there’s also an obvious follow-up angle: the deeper a team goes, the more Pro Bowl participation can shift (Super Bowl players, alternates, replacements). But the headline today is locked in, Lawrence earned the honor, and he earned the bonus.
