Just ahead of a critical Thursday Night Football showdown with their division-rival Cardinals, the Seattle Seahawks got some good news on an important piece of their offense. Third-year RB Zach Charbonnet is expected to play after being listed as questionable on the injury report on Thursday, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Charbonnet has been dealing with a foot injury, one that kept him out of the Seahawks’ Week 3 game against the Saints. He didn’t practice at all leading into Week 3, but was listed as a full participant in practice all week leading up to tonight’s game. He’s been trending towards playing for a while, this is just official confirmation.
While Charbonnet missed the Saints game, he first suffered the injury in Week 2 against the Steelers. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald later specified it was a toe injury, and he was listed as doubtful going into Week 3. Despite the short week with a Thursday night game, the extra few days were enough to not only get Charbonnet back at practice, but for him to suit up for the game itself.
Seahawks CB Devon Witherspoon and S Julian Love are expected to play tonight, as well. Rookie Seattle S Nick Emmanwori is listed as doubtful.

Drafted in the second round out of UCLA in 2023, Charbonnet became known for his wrecking-ball running style. Hard to tackle and always playing with maximum energy, he endeared himself to Seattle fans early on. He totaled 1,031 rushing yards and nine touchdowns across his first two seasons, playing behind starting RB Kenneth Walker III, a second-round pick out of Michigan State in 2022.
To open this season, Charbonnet had 47 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the 49ers, though he had just 10 yards on the ground against the Steelers in Week 2, the game in which he was injured.
Huge Divisional Matchup Looming for the Seattle Seahawks
Three teams are tied at 2-1 for second place in the NFC West behind the San Francisco 49ers: the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Rams. Two of those teams face off on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 4: the Seahawks and Cardinals.
The Seahawks dropped a tough game at home to the 49ers to open the season, driving deep into San Francisco territory for a potential game-winning touchdown only to fumble their chances away. But they followed that up with convincing wins over the Steelers and Saints to put the NFC on notice.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, limped through the first two weeks with subpar performances against the Saints and Panthers, notching two wins but not firing on all cylinders. They came even closer than the Seahawks to beating the 49ers, though, taking a late lead on a safety before San Francisco managed to drive and kick a game-winning field goal as time expired.
Meanwhile, the Rams dropped a tough game in Philadelphia last week, losing when their would-be game-winning field goal was blocked and returned for a touchdown. They face another major test at home against the Colts this week, so whomever wins tonight between the Seahawks and Cardinals has a chance to stand alone in second place (or tie for first, if the 49ers lose to the Jaguars on Sunday) in the NFC West.
