It has been a busy week of roster moves for the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the team’s Week 13 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, including a reunion with a former Pro Bowler. Seattle also made an additional move to add some depth at running back by signing a former NFC West foe.
Seattle announced the signing of safety Quandre Diggs to the team’s practice squad. Additionally, the Seahawks signed running back Cam Akers to the team’s active roster.
Akers is best known for his four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, facing the Seahawks on plenty of occasions. Unlike a typical midweek practice squad move, Seattle signing Akers to the team’s active roster, showing the team plans to utilize the running back for the rest of the season.

Seahawks RB Cam Akers Was Part of the Rams’ Super Bowl Run in 2021
Akers was part of the Rams’ Super Bowl run during the 2021 season, experience that cannot hurt as the Seahawks look towards the postseason. More recently, Akers played the last two seasons for the Vikings. It just so happens that Seattle signed Akers days before the team is slated to play Minnesota. The Vikings released Akers on November 22.
Following a standout college football career at Florida State, the Rams selected Akers in the second round with the No. 52 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. Akers’ best season came in 2022 when the playmaker posted 188 carries for 786 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 appearances, including nine starts.
The Seahawks Made Several Roster Moves Ahead of the Vikings Game
Seattle made several roster moves to make room for Diggs and Akers. The Seahawks cut ties with cornerback Derion Kendrick and tackle Logan Brown.
Additionally, Seattle promoted cornerback Shaquill Griffin and linebacker Patrick O’Connell to the active roster from the practice squad. The Seahawks placed linebacker Chazz Surratt on injured reserve after the defender sustaining an ankle injury.
