The Snooker Shoot Out gets underway on Wednesday in Leicester, with the unique event providing a very different atmosphere to the rest of the calendar.
Every match in the tournament is just one frame, with a 10 minute maximum and played under a shot clock.
The fans in Leicester are welcome to make plenty of noise and they certainly will do so, especially in the Friday and Saturday evening sessions.
Ranking points are on the line and there is £50,000 to the winner so it can be a career-changing event for players, as it was for Chris Wakelin a couple of years ago, who now finds himself in the world’s top 16 and heading to the Masters next month.
Mark Allen won it last year, becoming the first top 16 player to do so, with lower-ranked players tending to grab the opportunity for a rare piece of silverware.
