Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in Sporting defender Goncalo Inacio this summer, but the Portuguese side will not entertain any offers below his €60m (£50.5m) release clause.

The 22-year-old centre-back has been on the radar of Premier League clubs for a while now after bursting into the first team at Sporting in the 2020/21 season.

He has since been a regular under Ruben Amorim and has earned a place in the Portugal squad at Euro 2024, with eight caps to his name.

A Bola report that Manchester United are the ‘main interested party’ in his signature this summer, but Liverpool also have Inacio firmly on their radar.

Sporting are keen to keep hold of one of their key players but are well aware of the pulling power of the Premier League and know a sale is likely inevitable at some stage.

However, they will not let the defender go cheaply and will not even enter into negotiations until an offer of at least €60m (£50.5m), the value of his release clause, is made.

Inacio only signed a new contract with Sporting last year and his deal runs until 2027, so the Primeira Liga champions can be firm in their negotiations over price.

Inacio will be hoping to add to his eight Portugal caps in Germany this summer and his Premier League suitors will be watching closely if he does.

Roberto Martinez has the likes of Ruben Dias and 41-year-old Pepe also at his disposal at centre-back as he prepares to take on Turkey, Georgia and Czech Republic in the group stage.

Martinez has heaped praise on Inacio before, telling Futebol Total that he is as sought after a player as any in Europe.

‘The player’s profile is important. Goncalo Inacio is the most researched profile in European football,’ said the Portugal boss. ‘Central, left foot, he can play inside, with quality, scores goals, has intelligence.’
