The Pittsburgh Steelers should have a full complement of players back from injury for the pivotal Week 18 matchup versus the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers will also have defensive back D’Shawn Jamison available from the practice squad.
On Saturday, the Steelers announced adding Jamison as a practice squad elevation to their 53-man roster for Week 18.
This will be the second consecutive week Jamison will dress for the Steelers. In addition to Week 17, the defensive back was a practice squad elevation during Week 11.
Against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11, Jamison played four special teams snaps. On one of those snaps, he returned a kickoff 20 yards.
The 26-year-old played five special teams snaps last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
A former undrafted pick from 2023, Jamison spent his rookie season with the Carolina Panthers. In 15 games, he posted 10 combined tackles and one pass defense during 2023.
Jamison’s debut with the Steelers in Week 11 was his first regular season game in the league since his rookie campaign.
After Sunday, Jamison will revert back to the Pittsburgh practice squad. The Steelers’ season, though, will only continue if they defeat the Ravens in Week 18.
The two AFC North foes will renew their rivalry at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday night. Kickoff is at 8:20 pm ET.
Steelers Promote DB D’Shawn Jamison From Practice Squad
Jamison hasn’t played on defense in the regular season since 2023. So, the Steelers are very likely adding the cornerback to only play on special teams.
That’s very likely the case with the team expecting cornerbacks James Pierre and Brandin Echols to return versus Baltimore. Both Pierre and Echols missed last week’s loss to the Browns, which turned Sunday’s contest against the Ravens into a de facto playoff game.
But Pierre and Echols each fully practiced Friday. As of Saturday, neither player as an injury designation.
The Steelers signed Jamison to a reserve/future contract after the conclusion of the 2024 season. He spent the training camp and preseason in Pittsburgh but didn’t make the initial team’s roster.
In August, though, the Steelers brought back Jamison on their first practice squad.
Jamison spent five years with the Texas Longhorns during his college career. In 60 collegiate games, he registered 139 combined tackles, including six tackles for loss. He also had 17 pass defenses and six interceptions.
