The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the lookout to add a receiver ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
The Steelers are atop the AFC North and are likely to look to upgrade their roster at the trade deadline. One area of need for Pittsburgh is a receiver to help add another threat to the offense.
NFL analyst Dan Wilkins of theScore predicted the Steelers would acquire Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders for a 2026 fourth-round pick.
“The Steelers desperately need to add another receiver alongside DK Metcalf,” Wilkins wrote. “A deep tight end room is allowing Arthur Smith to live out a dream and exploit some matchups in heavy sets. But that’s not going to do anything for this offense if and when Pittsburgh falls behind against the AFC’s top competition. Meyers, who’s long been one of the league’s most underrated targets, figures to be the most highly coveted receiver available at the deadline.”
Meyers requested a trade from the Raiders earlier this year, and he could be dealt at the deadline. Wilkins also believes Meyers would be a perfect complement to Metcalf.
“Meyers is an excellent route-runner, he’s reliable at the catch point, and he has the versatility to contribute from the slot and out wide,” Wilkins added. “With those traits, the veteran wideout probably wouldn’t have much trouble earning Aaron Rodgers’ trust as a high-end No. 2 in this offense. And a willingness to do the dirty work in the run game would make Meyers especially valuable to a team like the Steelers.”
Meyers is in the final year of his three-year, $33 million deal. He’s recorded 29 receptions for 329 yards this season with the Raiders.
Meyers Wants to be Traded Ahead of Deadline
Meyers requested a trade in the offseason by the Raiders, but it wasn’t fulfilled.
With the Raiders off to a bad start, Meyers is once again going public. He said he would welcome a trade.
“[The Raiders] know how I feel,” Meyers said. “It’s no reason for me to keep going back crying to them, ‘Can you get me out of here?’ If you move me, you move me. But in the meantime, I got some real people that I care about next to me. So I’m trying to make sure I’m being my best self for them.”
When asked if he wanted to be traded, Meyers had a blunt answer.
“Oh, for sure,” Meyers said. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football. If I’m here, I’ll play good football. If I’m not here, I’ll go out there and play wherever I’m supposed to be.”
Steelers Looking to Acquire a Receiver
With Pittsburgh atop the AFC North, the Steelers are in win-now mode.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Steelers are looking to trade for a receiver.
“The Steelers are, once again, in the market for a receiver, sources say. Their offense has thrived by featuring multiple tight ends. But the addition of a speed threat to pair with DK Metcalf would help Aaron Rodgers and the offense,” Rapoport wrote.
The Steelers have been linked to the likes of Meyers, Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Jaylen Waddle, among others.
