Wide receiver Roman Wilson still has work to do to move up the Pittsburgh Steelers depth chart, but he appeared to make strides in his development during the team’s preseason opener Saturday.
According to Steelers insider Mark Kaboly, though, Wilson might not be making enough progress.
Kaboly suggested during a live stream on his YouTube channel Wednesday morning that the Steelers are again interested in the wide receiver trade market.
“I would not be shocked within the next 10 to 12 days that they add a receiver,” Kaboly told his co-host Chris Mack, via Steelers Depot’s Ross McCorkle. “I was under the impression that they’re just gonna play it out like they were right now.
“We have [Roman] Wilson, [Calvin] Austin, we’re going with that. I was pretty much sure of that. I don’t know if I’m sure of that anymore.”
If the Steelers acquired another receiver, it could potentially impact Wilson the most. The second-year receiver began the preseason last week as a third-team wideout.
Wilson remains behind DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Robert Woods and Scotty Miller on the team’s depth chart.
Wilson played well in Week 1 of the preseason. So, there’s opportunity for him to move up to the second team before the regular season.
But that might go out the door if the Steelers trade for a receiver.
