Amid the backlash on Ayesha Curry, Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry shared a story about his wife. Steph was on the green with golfer Bryson DeChambeau recently, and he revealed having a fun moment with Ayesha this past offseason.
The two-time NBA MVP appeared on DeChambeau’s latest video on YouTube, participating in the series called “Break 50.” The objective of the game is for DeChambeau and his guest to shoot under 30 on an 18-hole round in a two-man scramble format, as per SportBible.
In between shots at Hole No. 10, DeChambeau asked Steph if he had ever played the front tees. The four-time champion revealed that he only did it once with Ayesha over the summer and had fun playing golf with his wife.
“I did it one time. So my wife was getting into golf and we went on vacation last summer, and actually, you had inspired me ’cause of what you said about what playing from the forward tees does for your psyche and all that. So I played 12 holes with her from the forward tees, and it was pretty fun,” Curry said.
In golf, front tees and forward tees have the same meaning. It’s teeing on the ground closest to the green, which is meant to shorten the course, and is usually for beginners and senior players.
Ayesha Curry Starting to Like Golf
Outside of basketball and his family, Steph Curry’s passion is golf. He’s considered one of the best golfers in the NBA. He even expressed his interest in pursuing professional golf once he retires from basketball in an interview with Sports Illustrated two years ago.
“It’s something that I would be confident I could work toward, because that’s the competitor in me. But I say that with a caveat of complete and utter respect for the professional golfers out there that dedicate their lives to it. Because I do understand how hard it would be. Both can be true. I think I could get there, but I also know it would be a lot harder than my success in basketball,” Curry said.
Steph’s wife, Ayesha Curry, seems to be getting fond of the sport as well. Amid the backlash from her comments about marriage on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in August, the mother of four shared photos of her time on the green with her girl friends on Instagram earlier this week.
Steph and Ayesha have known each other since they were teenagers in North Carolina. They reconnected in 2008 and began dating, as per People.com. They got married in 2011 and have four children together: daughters Riley and Ryan and sons Canon and Caius.
Gilbert Arenas and Cam Newton Defended Ayesha Curry
While almost the entire internet called out Ayesha Curry for saying that she didn’t want to get married and have kids before meeting Steph Curry. That part of her appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast was clipped and uploaded on social media, creating a viral firestorm.
Former Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards player Gilbert Arenas was quick to defend Ayesha for being honest. Arenas also pointed out that she eventually loved becoming a mother and was okay letting go her dreams.
On the other hand, Cam Newton added that Steph and Ayesha have been together for so long that they’re comfortable with each other to be honest. Despite all the rumors, they are still together and appears happily married.
