The Golden State Warriors have gotten off to a decent start in the 2025-26 campaign, as they have posted a 6-5 record through their first six games. As the season rolls on, the team is expected to turn things up a notch, and it would certainly help if they could get superstar point guard Stephen Curry back on the court.
Curry has missed the past three games with an illness, which has put the Warriors in a tough spot, as replacing his production is easier said than done. However, with the team preparing for a big contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, Golden State has received a big update on Curry’s status that will surely catch fans’ attention.
Stephen Curry Expected to Play vs. Thunder
In his 17th NBA season, Curry has looked like his typical self for the Warriors. In eight games, Curry is averaging 26.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 45.4% from the field. As is usually the case, Curry is leading the league in three-point attempts (11.3) and three-point makes (4.4) per game, which is good for a 38.9% on shots from behind the arc.
Even though he’s now 37 years old, Curry is still the player Golden State’s offense revolves around, and without him, it makes things a lot tougher on his teammates to succeed. Having another proven superstar in Jimmy Butler certainly helps, but so much of the Warriors’ offense is predicated on Curry taking and making loads of threes.
Unsurprisingly, the Dubs suffered a pair of losses to the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets in their first two games without Curry, before picking up a 31-point win over the battered Indiana Pacers on Sunday night. A clash with the reigning champions looms on Tuesday night, and it looks like Curry will be back in action, as he was removed from the team’s injury report on Monday.
“Steph Curry is cleared to return tomorrow night in Oklahoma City. Not listed on the injury report at Thunder,” Anthony Slater of ESPN shared in a post on X.

The Warriors can stay afloat without Curry, but they need him in order to play their best basketball. And if there’s ever a time to put together a strong game, it’s against the Thunder, who have coasted to a 10-1 record to start the new season. If Curry can put together a strong outing in his return to action, Golden State will have a shot to come out on top in this win.
The beginning stages of the 2025-26 season for the Warriors are all about getting everyone on the same page. There are several important new faces in town, and it takes some time for players to get used to their teammates’ tendencies. Against Oklahoma City, the Dubs will find out just where they stack up against the top team in the league currently. Tip-off for this game is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
