The first 16 members of the Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 practice squad were all players that spent training camp with the team. But linebacker Mark Robinson, who was one of the more prominent players the Steelers parted ways with this week before Tuesday’s roster deadline, didn’t return to the organization on the practice squad.
Instead, Robinson has found a new home with a Steelers rival.
The New England Patriots announced on their team website Thursday that they signed Robinson to their practice squad.
The Patriots also signed three other players to their practice squad with Robinson — defensive back Corey Ballentine along with defensive linemen Cory Durden and Fabien Lovett.
To make room for those four players, the Patriots released cornerback Brandon Crossley, linebacker Cam Riley and tight end Gee Scott Jr. from the practice squad.
Robinson spent three years with the Steelers. The team drafted him in the seventh round at No. 225 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He started the final two games of his rookie season. Although he played limited snaps during those games, there was hope he would develop into a regular starter during his second season.
Instead, Robinson started just two games over his final two campaigns with the Steelers while dressing for all 34 contests. In 38 games with Pittsburgh, he posted 45 combine tackles, including one tackle for loss and one sack.
