On Sunday, December 7, the Kansas City Chiefs toting a 6-6 record are up against the 7-5 Houston Texans, and even though this game is all about the teams, Taylor Swift is engaged to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and she’s making news for her own reasons.
Swift is a regular attending Kelce’s home games at Arrowhead stadium, although lately, she’s been keeping a very low profile at games. Swift has always had security concerns at games, so it makes sense that she’s laying low. This game is especially important to the Chiefs, if they want to make it to the postseason, which they do, of course. They shot at making the postseason goes up to 51% if they win, according to research from the NFL, which still isn’t ideal, but it’s better than dipping to 11%.
This game is important for the Texans, too, who are also on the fringe of making the playoffs. If they beat the Kansas City Chiefs, their chance of making the playoffs skyrockets to 86%, making them almost a shoo-in if things go their way. Plus, this game is a “Sunday Night Football” event, so viewership will be high and both times will get center stage in a primetime showing.
Taylor Swift Makes News As the Kansas City Chiefs Take On the Houston Texans
Swift officially became a billionaire in October 2023, according to research from Forbes, because of her earnings from her Eras Tour and the large value of her music catalog. But, now a 29-year-old former ballerina has one-upped Swift to become the youngest self-made female billionaire.
According to Forbes, Luana Lopes Lara co-founded Kalshi, which is a prediction-market company that’s valued at $11 billion, making her net worth $1.3 billion. Lara studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and launched Kalshi as a legal financial exchange. What’s exceptional is that Kalshi’s trading volume went up 1,000% in a year, and she also partnered with a bevy of major companies to increase the value of the company.

Swift has still busy promoting her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which arrived on October 3. That’s where more big news comes in for the musician amid the Chiefs and Texans game.
According to a report out on Friday, December 5, Swift’s single “The Fate of Ophelia” is now her longest-running U.K. No. 1 single following snagging a seventh non-consecutive week on top of the Official Singles Chart, according to Billboard research.
The track, which was featured on The Life of a Showgirl, “first hit the top spot back in October for three consecutive weeks,” according to Billboard. “It was knocked off the top spot by Kpop Demon Hunters’ ‘Golden’ for two weeks and has since returned to score a further four consecutive weeks.”
“The Fate of Ophelia” has also topped Swift’s 2022 single “Anti-Hero” to become her longest-running U.K. No. 1 single. “Anti-Hero” was at the top spot for six consecutive weeks after it was released.
So, Swift has reasons to celebrate, and even though she lost her spot as the youngest self-made female to become a billionaire, she has a lot for which to be thankful.
