While Kansas City Chiefs fans wait for Travis Kelce to reveal his retirement decision, the tight end is suiting up against the Las Vegas Raiders on January 4.
For the first time in 10 seasons, the Chiefs are not participating in the postseason. Kansas City was eliminated from playoff contention following a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.
While the Chiefs-Raiders game is a meaningless Week 18 matchup for both teams, knowing it could be Kelce’s last NFL game packs a meaningful punch. Fans hope to see Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift, cheering him on at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.
Swift most recently attended the Chiefs game against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day. While the pop star hasn’t attended a regular-season road game since 2023, if Sunday’s game is Kelce’s official swan song after 13 distinguished years in the league, there’s a strong chance she will make an exception.

The “Opalite” singer spoke about how much her and Kelce’s respective careers align in her “End of an Era” docuseries. “I don’t think I ever thought I’d meet a guy who had that same trajectory,” she said. “And I’ve realized that with this person in my life, that this was the right fit for me. You can have the two passions coexist, and they actually fuel each other.”
“Ultimately, we love cheering each other on,” she added. That’s rad.”
Taylor Swift Attended the Chiefs Game at Allegiant Stadium During Super Bowl LVIII

Page Six reported in 2024 that Swift no longer attended away games due to security concerns. “She’s not going anywhere unless she knows the venue intimately, and it has been thoroughly scouted and secured in advance,” a source told the outlet.
Swift, however, is familiar with Allegiant Stadium. Not only did she perform there during the Eras Tour, she also returned to Allegiant Stadium to watch the Chiefs’ overtime win against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
Even though there’s nothing to play for on Sunday, Kelce is committed to giving it his all on the field. “If we’re gonna go out there and play some football, we’re gonna do it the right way and, keep trying to get these things fixed and end on the highest note that we can,” the future Hall of Famer said on his “New Heights” podcast last month.
“All I’d know is to go out there and play my ass off and to show up and, you know, give my guys the best chance to win. I think that’s the mentality, man. There’s an integrity thing here.”
The 36-year-old veteran is just two catches away from securing the record for 8th most receptions of all time. The seven-time All-Pro enters the matchup with 1,077 career receptions for 12,990 yards and 82 touchdowns.

Like last season, Kelce is waiting to make a decision on his future until the Chiefs play their final game. With his contract expired, he’ll be a free agent. “I saw how much the Powerball was,” he joked to reporters last week. “I was like, ‘Man, if I could just win that, I wouldn’t have to work another day in my life.’”
“Honestly, I’ve just been trying to win games,” Kelce added on a more serious note. “I’ll let that be a decision I’ll make with my family, friends and the Chiefs organization when the time comes.”
Is there more left in the tank for Kelce? The 11-time Pro Bowler will finish the season as the Chiefs’ leader in catches and yards this season.
