The Houston Texans are a team to watch ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline. Moreover, they are a team to keep an eye on for New York Jets running back Breece Hall.
Hall, the No. 36 overall pick of the 2022 draft, is in the final year of his rookie contract. He should draw plenty of interest from suitors around the league before the deadline. The Jets are still winless on the season.
He would be a dynamic addition to a Texans offense that could use it.
Texans Trade Pitch Land Breece Hall Before Deadline

ESPN’s Dan Graziano name-dropped the Texans in a blurb about Hall being a trade candidate before the deadline.
This year, the deadline falls on November 4 at 4:30 p.m. ET. The Texans, who have the 16th-ranked rushing offense entering Week 7, will play three games before then. That is plenty of time to decide whether or not Hall is a fit.

“The name that comes up most is the Jets’ Breece Hall. He’s 24 years old and in the final year of his contract, and the Jets have made no move to sign him long term. Braelon Allen is out because of a knee injury, which complicates things for the Jets from a 2025 depth-chart perspective,” Graziano wrote on October 15.
“Allen is only 21 years old and under contract for two more years after this one. They also like Isaiah Davis, who is 23 and also signed through 2027. So there are plenty of reasons Hall might not be in the Jets’ long-range plans, and they could be open to a nice offer. Teams I expect to have interest in acquiring a running back ahead of the deadline include, but are not limited to, the Chiefs, Texans and Chargers.”
Hall has rushed for 410 yards on 88 carries this season, adding another 150 yards on 17 receptions in 24 targets. For his career, Hall has 769 yards, 4,185 yards, and 22 total TDs.
“Good call on Hall,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler wrote in response to Graziano in the same article. “He has said publicly he doesn’t want to be traded, but he’s also on an 0-6 team, so it feels as if all bets are off.”
Texans Called ‘Possible Fit’ for Jets RB Breece Hall

Graziano’s expectation comes on the heels of Pro Football Focus listing the Texans as a “possible fit” for Hall, among others, should the Jets decide to trade.
“Hall has rebounded nicely in 2025. His PFF rushing grade has remained relatively the same at a 69.4 mark, but he’s increased his yards-after-contact average (3.50) while gaining an explosive rush at a 21.2% clip. Beyond that, Hall has flourished as a receiver with a 71.8 PFF receiving grade with 6.3 yards after the catch per reception,” Pro Football Focus’ Bradley Locker wrote on October 13.
“Hall’s future in New York seemed bleak at best given Braelon Allen’s development — and even with Allen sidelined for much of the rest of the year, the Jets will likely prioritize other pending free agents over their inconsistent back.”
Hall has Jets head coach Aaron Glenn’s support as the deadline looms.
Another loss could push the Jets closer towards calling it on this season. That could bode well for the Texans in a potential pursuit of a trade for Hall or another target.
The Texans are working with four-time Pro Bowler Nick Chubb and rookie fourth-round pick Woody Marks. Joe Mixon is on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. They also have 2022 fourth-rounder Dameon Pierce and veteran third-down back Dare Ogunbowale.
Still, the Texans are increasingly being viewed as a potential trade destination for Hall.
