The Texans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Running back Woody Marks aggravated an ankle injury Sunday against the Cardinals. The rookie fourth-rounder limped off and was replaced by Jawhar Jordan, who produced 101 yards on 15 carries in his NFL debut.
While Marks never returned after leaving the game in the first half, head coach DeMeco Ryans indicated following the 40-20 win that his injury was not serious.
âWoody could have come back in the game,â Ryans said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. âHe got his ankle tweaked a little bit there early in the game. From where he was, felt like Jawhar and Dare were doing a good job, so wanted to keep rolling with those guys and make sure Woody is good as we continue to go into the week.â
Marks Becoming Texans’ No. 1 RB
Marks has become a fixture in the backfield for the resurgent Texans (9-5), winners of six straight and seven of their last eight.
The USC product finished Sundayâs win with 30 yards on seven carries, serving as the featured back with veteran Nick Chubb inactive (ribs). He also recovered a botched snap for a touchdown.
In the previous week, a 20-10 victory over the Chiefs, Marks logged a season-high 26 carries for 68 yards and had a 9-yard touchdown catch.
Despite dealing with several nagging injuries in recent weeks, Marks leads the Texans with 584 yards rushing on 167 carries in 14 games.
Texans All-Pro CB Healthy Despite Injury Tag
The Texans also seem to have avoided the worst with All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., who played 85% of his teamâs defensive snaps despite being listed as having an oblique injury. He had three tackles, including one for a loss.
Stingley, who has 30 tackles, three interceptions and 12 passes defended this season, was replaced late in the second half by Tremon Smith.
