Contract holdouts have become quite common as top NFL stars are sitting out of training camp. Refusing to compete without the guarantee of a new contract, the Tennessee Titans were recently had their name thrown in the mix.
Even though they already have Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett, they’ll take all the weapons they can get on offense. With surging rookie Jayden Daniels unsure if his star wideout will return to the team, all the Titans can do is hope for a miracle.
FOX Sports NFL Lists the Tennessee Titans an a Landing Spot for Terry McLaurin
The 2024 Second-team All-Pro player deserves every penny. With five-straight 1,000+ receiving yard seasons, Terry McLaurin quickly found himself as Daniels top weapon. If Cam Ward had a choice, he’d immediately select McLaurin to join an already solid receiving core.
While Ridley and Lockett may no longer be what they once were, the Titans have a few other offensive options. Treylon Burks’ status remains up in the air, but he’s been trending in the right direction. Van Jefferson and Chimere Dike line up as a few of the team’s other receivers, along with TE Chig Okonkwo.
It’s far from the worst receiving core in the league, but every team should have McLaurin on their radar. In total, the Titans were one of eight teams listed to sign McLaurin. The possibility is there, but it’s far from a reality.
Other than the Titans, the Los Angeles Chargers, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, and Las Vegas Raiders were named as potential options. Of course, they also included the Washington Commanders, who McLaurin is under contract with through the 2025 season.
McLaurin enters the 2025 season under the final year of his three-year, $68.2 million contract. Knowing how much money some other receivers have made, it wouldn’t be shocking to see McLaurin want double that amount.
He’s proven himself time and time again. At 29-years-old, the Ohio State graduate hasn’t finished a season with less than 919 receiving yards. He has played in all 17 games the last four seasons, missing just three in his NFL career.
Titans Fans Love the Move
Even though none of these teams should get their hopes up for the 2025 season, Tennessee remains on the radar. This user mentioned, “I would be rock hard cold in the snow if Scary Terry comes to Tennessee!” They included the TitanUp hashtag as well as included a photoshopped photo of him wearing No. 17 on the team.
“Titans for sure,” another fan commented. One individual said, “Seeing the Titans on the wheel brings me joy.”
“Come on Tennessee,” this fan said as he urges the Titans on. After news broke of Will Levis undergoing season ending surgery, it truly is the Cam Ward show in 2025.
Someone else chimed in, “Honestly out of these options anywhere but the Titans and Browns would be good for him.” It’s clear that many aren’t high on Tennessee’s offense, but there’s no doubt the addition of McLaurin would be game changing.
Ward hasn’t received the hype of other No. 1 overall picks in the past, but he’s eager to get on the field and let his skills do the talking.
