Tom Brady Has Strong Message on Raiders Owner Mark Davis

Whether he wants it that way or not, Tom Brady is going to be a talking point when it comes to the Las Vegas Raiders going forward. He became a minority owner last year, and rumors were that he was heavily involved in picking the next head coach and general manager.

Mark Davis has been running the team for over a decade, but they’ve had just two winning seasons during that time. The hope is that Brady can help steer the football operations in the right direction.

While he has come under fire for some of his decision-making in the past, Brady is a big fan of Davis as a business partner. He had a lot of praise for the longtime Raiders owner.

“I’ve loved it,” Brady told Paul Gutierrez of Raiders.com. “And, again, just trying to contribute in the ways that I can to help the team be the best they can be, on and off the field. We’ve got a great group of people. I love Mark. He’s done an incredible job getting the team to Vegas, getting the stadium built.”

“Pete is new this year; he’s got a big role to play,” Brady added. “And so does John Spytek. And we’re trying to do the right things every day. So that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Brady Happy to Be Part of Ownership

Brady likely would’ve played football forever if it weren’t for the physical toll it takes on the body. Being part of the ownership of a team is a good way for him to stay involved with the NFL without having to get hit.

He’s still new in the role, but he’s been enjoying working with Davis, head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek.

“Well, I’m just a limited partner, so Mark’s the boss,” Brady said. “And then Pete does his job and Spy does his job and, I think, we trust them to make the right decisions.

“I’m there as a great sounding board for anything they want to do.”

Brady Praises Carroll & Spytek

If it weren’t for Brady, the Raiders likely wouldn’t have been able to land Carroll as head coach and Spytek as general manager. They were both high-end candidates.

Considering Brady’s background, it’s easy to see him wanting to be heavily involved in every football decision, but having competent people like Spytek and Carroll running the team makes it a lot easier.

He loves what he’s seen from the head coach-general manager duo thus far.

“They’ve worked together very well, and there’s a lot of decisions that are made,” Brady said. “Winning games in September starts with what happens in February, March and April, when no one’s really watching. They’ve been hard at work.

“And our goal is to, you know, win a lot of football games. You’ve got to work hard at it, and it’s all earned and we’ve got a tough division. There’s a lot of good opponents we face. But it’s going to be up to the guys and their daily commitment to doing the right things.”
