Heaton re-joined the Red Devils in 2021, over a decade after ending his first spell at Old Trafford.

Speaking to the club’s website, he explained: “I am delighted to continue my stay at my boyhood club.

“I still feel in great shape and I am ready to offer whatever the squad needs throughout the season ahead.

“In addition to on the pitch, I’m learning so much off it for my next steps, whatever that may be. But, first and foremost, I want to push the squad to build on our successes from last season.”

Heaton is set to continue as third-choice behind Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir for the upcoming season.

He has made just three appearances during his second stint at the club, with fans hailing him for having the “best job in the world”.

Reacting to the news on social media, one supporter wrote: “Bro has the best job in the world. 3rd choice GK at United. He’s stealing a living.”
