Tommy Fleetwood Proves Why 2025 Is His Year After Performance in Delhi

Tommy Fleetwood added another jewel to a standout 2025 campaign by capturing the inaugural DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club. Beyond the title, the win underscored Fleetwood’s momentum this year.

From the first tee to his final putt, Fleetwood showed both purpose and poise. After trailing going into the final round, he made his move with birdies and smart shot-shaping–especially on the narrow, tree-lined fairways of the Delhi venue. His ability to adapt and execute under pressure is a hallmark of a player in full stride.

“I feel like for all the good that’s happened this year, a couple of things have disappointed me,” Fleetwood said. “Another win, it feels great.”

The Final Round

The final day at Delhi presented unique challenges. Ship-in of the driver by many players indicated how the course demanded precision over power. Fleetwood, for instance, opted to use a mini-driver and controlled tee shots rather than bomb it off the tee.

Starting the day two shots behind Japan’s Keita Nakajima, he got off to a strong start and then re-took control with birdies in succession between holes seven and ten. From there he managed the closing stretch with calm, posting a bogey-free back nine to seal the deal.

Fleetwood fired a final-round 7-under-65 to finish at 22-under overall, edging Nakajima by two strokes

Emotion wove through the story too. He admitted after the round that this one felt special for reasons that went beyond rankings or prize money. His eight-year-old son, Frankie, had never been able to rush the green for a victory celebration before.

“That was all day today what I had in my mind,” Fleetwood said. “Could I put myself in a position where I could actually make that happen? It means so much to me.” When the final putt dropped, that small personal dream unfolded in front of thousands.

A Year to Remember

For Fleetwood, this win in Delhi wasn’t just another stop on the calendar; it was the latest line in a season that’s begun to define his career. At 34, he’s reached the stage where results meet perspective, and 2025 has given him both. The DP World India Championship marked his eighth DP World Tour title and continued a surge that’s seen him turn consistency into something far greater: conviction.

“There’s been plenty of times when things haven’t gone my way, but the last two tournaments I have been in contention in I have won, so maybe things are starting to even out a little bit,” Fleetwood said.

Earlier this year, Fleetwood finally earned his long-awaited first PGA Tour victory, a breakthrough that silenced one of golf’s lingering “when will he?” questions. Then came another defining moment–a starring role in Europe’s Ryder Cup win in New York, where he anchored key matches with his trademark calm. Add to that eight top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour and now another international win, and his 2025 campaign reads like a career-summation year–the one where potential finally met delivery.

There’s a visible confidence about Fleetwood now. He’s not forcing wins; he’s commanding them. The swing looks freer, the putting stroke steadier, and the shot-making decisions more deliberate. In Delhi, every fairway and approach felt like part of a bigger pattern–a player who has learned to let moments come to him rather than chase them.
