Trade Proposal Lands Colts 50 Touchdown Offensive Threat

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown is not happy with how the team is currently utilizing him.

Brown posted a now-deleted cryptic message after the team’s Week 4 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he hauled in 9 yards on two catches for the defending Super Bowl champions.

The wide receiver currently has 274 receiving yards through six games this season, which is on track to be Brown’s career low in receiving yards in a season at 776 yards. He is also on track for his lowest touchdown catches in a season.

The Eagle star has recorded four games this season with fewer than 45 receiving yards, with the other two games registering over 80+ yards.

One NFL analyst believes AJ Brown can reunite with a former coach who helped him have his best career season.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen was the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

In the latter season, AJ Brown had his best career season in both receiving yards and touchdowns. Brown had 1,496 receiving yards, the fourth most in the league, while hauling in 11 touchdowns, tied for the third-most.

CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin released a trade pitch that lands the Colts AJ Brown, giving the team a solidified wide receiver one. To acquire the three-time All-Pro offensive weapon, Indy would need to give up wide receiver Alec Pierce, EDGE rusher Kwity Paye and a 2026 third-round pick.

“The Colts are suddenly legitimate playoff hopefuls atop the AFC South at 5-1. Now might be their time to strike for added weaponry in search of a surprise run,” Benjamin wrote.

“Head coach Shane Steichen worked directly with Brown during his star-studded 2022 Eagles debut. Pierce is more of a secondary receiver than bona fide No. 1, but his size (6-foot-3, 211 pounds) and field-stretching speed could help alleviate Brown’s relocation. Paye, meanwhile, is a former first-round pass rusher who reportedly drew Brandon Graham comparisons from the Eagles coming out of Michigan in 2021.”

What Brown Brings To Indy

If AJ Brown were to find his way to Indianapolis, it would give the organization a true wide receiver one.

The wide receiver has recorded five 1,000+ receiving yard seasons during his career so far. Currently, Michael Pittman Jr. is the only other receiving threat on the roster with a 1,000-yard season.

The Colts would have to give up promising young star Alec Pierce, who has seen improvement from his rookie season to his fourth year, for a cemented wide receiver in Brown.

The Eagles‘ wide receiver would need to get used to Shane Steichen and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter’s offensive scheme before being a major contributor to the team.

Brown could be interested in the move, as the Eagles are a heavy run focus team. With the Colts, it appears to be split down the middle as quarterback Daniel Jones has the seventh-most passing yards in the league, allowing Brown to receive more targets.
