Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons has announced on social media that he asked to be traded from the organization.
“I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America’s team once again. The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here,” posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Parsons has been one of the most dominant players at his position since being drafted four years ago as the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
A three-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler, the Cowboys defender has never recorded fewer than 12 sacks in a season.
Now looking for a new home, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox listed a team in a rebuild as a landing destination.
Trade Idea Has Micah Parsons Land In New England

Knox listed the New England Patriots as one of the teams in his trade ideas after Micah Parsons’ announcement.
“There’s no getting around the fact that acquiring Parsons would be prohibitively expensive for many teams… There are only a few reasons why a Parsons trade might not sneak into high-end quarterback territory—a deal that would likely cost three first-round picks or more,” Knox wrote for B/R. “Parsons is coming off an injury-hampered season, he’s set to be a free agent next year, and he’s going to require a contract that outpaces the $41 million-per-year extension that T.J. Watt just signed.”
“Therefore, we might as well start the hypothetical bidding with the league-leader in cap space. The New England Patriots have $60 million in space available and a rebuilding roster centered around a second-year quarterback. They could afford to pay Parsons, and doing so would make sense… Adding Parsons would give the Patriots a true centerpiece on the other side of the ball while significantly boosting a pass rush that generated a mere 28 sacks in 2024.”
Defensive linemen Keion White and Deatrich Wise tied for the most sacks on the Patriots last season. The D-ends played in 17 and 15 games to get to opposing quarterbacks 5 times.
Parsons suffered an ankle injury last season, forcing him to miss 4 games, yet he was still able to record 12 sacks. If traded to the Pats, he would provide an immediate pass rush threat.
In Knox’s official trade proposal, the Patriots would give up their 2026 1st-round pick, 2026 2nd-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick and 2027 3rd-round pick in exchange for Parsons.
While it is a hefty offer, the Cowboys could ask for more in a trade for the defender.
How The Patriots Look After The Trade

New England was one of the biggest spenders in the 2025 NFL Free Agency.
The team brought in defensive tackle Milton Williams on a four-year, $104 million contract and EDGE rusher Harold Landry on a three-year, $43.5 million deal.
The newest additions to the Patriots’ defensive line racked up 14 sacks last season for their respective teams, already half of what the Pats logged last season.
Adding Micah Parsons would give New England a scary front four against any offensive line. With the cap space to give the EDGE rusher, it might interest him.
According to Dianna Russini, the Cowboys won’t trade Parsons away. But if the right offer comes in, it could be the end of Parsons’ time in Dallas.
