The Green Bay Packers got a breakout performance on Sunday from Romeo Doubs with six receptions for 58 yards and three touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys.
One NFL writer believes this career day could present a nice window to sell the Nevada product to another NFC team in need of a complementary piece in the WR room.
Packers Trade Proposal Sees Romeo Doubs Dealt to the Arizona Cardinals for a Pick Swap in 2026
Alex Kay of Bleacher Report sees Romeo Doubs’ three-touchdown performance as an opportunity to trade the veteran wide receiver to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a swap of fifth and seventh round picks between the organizations.
Doubs’ value went up in Week 4 after posting one of the most productive performances of his entire career, helping earn a draw against the Dallas Cowboys by catching six of his eight targets for 58 yards and a whopping three scores. The sizzling outing brought him to a respectable 179 yards and four touchdowns on 13 catches for the season,” wrote Kay. “Although he’s not an elite superstar who can single-handedly change a game, Doubs is a quality No. 2 WR who can be a perfect complement to up-and-coming No. 1 option Marvin Harrison Jr.”
Doubs has delivered some great individual performances in the past, but has failed to emerge as the definitive go-to option in the passing game in Green Bay for the last four seasons.
Doubs has never topped 100 yards receiving in a single game or 700 yards receiving in any single season throughout his career, which could make him expendable if a team believes he could be a bigger producer in their offensive scheme.
The Cardinals could be an interesting fit for Doubs due to the inconsistent play of Marvin Harrison Jr. throughout his young NFL career.
Kay added, “Quarterback Kyler Murray is overseeing an offense that rates No. 28 in passing with a lowly 164.8 yards per game average. The team also failed to create any gains longer than 18 yards in Week 4, evidence that a playmaker like Romeo Doubs may be exactly who the Cardinals need to get back on track.
Can the Packers Afford to Deal Doubs?
The Packers do have an intriguing amount of young talent at the WR position on the roster, which makes dealing Doubs enticing — but can the Packers really afford to trade one of their most reliable wide receivers at this moment?
Matthew Golden has shown flashes of his potential as WR1 in an NFL offense through the first four games of his NFL career, but still trails Doubs in snaps, targets, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns on the season by a wide margin.
Trading Doubs would also force Dontavyion Wicks, Savion Williams, or Malik Heath into a far larger roles than they currently are seeing. Not to mention, Jayden Reed and Christian Watson are both currently dealing with injuries.
The Packers sit at 2-1-1 entering their bye week and clearly have Super Bowl aspirations after the acquisition of Micah Parsons.
Recouping draft assets by offloading Doubs sounds good in theory, but could jeopardize the productivity of the offense — which feels counterproductive to their current status as a contender in the NFC.
