Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Wedding Update Emerges After Chiefs Elimination

Travis Kelce will have extra time for wedding planning after the Kansas City Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention, and he and Taylor Swift could be planning to skip an important tradition.

Kelce is going into the final three games of the NFL season with no chance of reaching the playoffs, with the Chiefs being eliminated with last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Kelce has not said definitively whether he would return for the 2026 season or head off into retirement, but he has a big wedding to plan first.

Jason Kelce Gives Insight into Travis and Taylor’s Wedding Planning

In a December 19 appearance on “Good Morning America,” Travis’s older brother discussed the early stages of wedding planning. When asked whether he would be giving a best man speech, Jason Kelce wouldn’t commit to whether the couple would follow that tradition.

“Time will tell if there is one or anything like that,” Jason Kelce said, via InStyle. “I’ve been given no details on that front, but however I’m involved, I’ll be happy to be. I’m just happy for those two.”

It’s not clear if Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are actually planning to skip the time-honored tradition, or if Jason Kelce was trying to protect details from the ceremony. The couple has been coy on specifics, including the date of their ceremony.

The New York Post’s Page Six did some digging and found the potential date, which would take place in the late spring.

“Taylor Swift cut a hefty check to snag a bride’s wedding date at a posh Rhode Island venue, Page Six is told,” the report noted. “Multiple sources tell us that the billionaire pop superstar wanted to marry her fiancé, Travis Kelce, at Ocean House in Watch Hill on Saturday, June 13, 2026.”

If true, the wedding date would give Kelce the chance to return to the Chiefs for 2026. The ceremony would take place before the team opens training camp, though could interfere with the end of mandatory minicamp in June.

Travis Kelce Focusing on This Season

While he hasn’t committed to whether he will play again in 2026, Kelce said he’s remaining focused on playing out the final three games of this season. The Chiefs are not only eliminated from playoff contention, but will also be forced to start backup quarterback Gardner Minshew after Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending injury.

Kelce said he never considered sitting out any of the games, saying he loves playing for the Chiefs and wants to finish the season strong.

“It’s just integrity, man,” Kelce told reporters after practice on December 19. “I signed up to be a Chief, and I love doing what I do. I know I’ve been dreaming of being in these moments and playing for an NFL team since I was a kid. Getting back to that will give you more motivation than you could ever need. That’s just how you need to go about work, whether you’re in the [playoff] race or not.

“I’m going to make sure these guys know I’m out there giving them everything I got.”
