The Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Commanders went head-to-head at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, October 27, for Monday Night Football, and the Chiefs walked out of the stadium with their fifth win of the season. The team’s 28-7 victory pushed the Kansas City Chiefs to a 5-3 record heading into Week 9 and took the Commanders down to a 3-5 record.
Taylor Swift makes a point of attending games at Arrowhead, and Monday evening’s showing was no exception. Swift snuck into the stadium without the cameras on here, but during the game, the cameras panned to her and showed Swift in a suite with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, watching the victory play out in real time.
So, Swift was at the game to cheer Travis Kelce on. What’s cool is that Kelce was also paying tribute to Swift at the game. Sure, this night was all about the Kansas City Chiefs staking their claim as the darlings in the NFL, but Kelce wasn’t selfish with his special moment.
Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs Honors Taylor Swift
Swift, of course, has a new album out, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which dropped on October 3. In it’s first week out, the album marked the biggest debut for an album on the Billboard 200 chart, notching more than 4 million album units. According to Billboard, the total earnings for the first week of the album were an impressive $135 million.
Before the showdown, Kelce paid tribute to Swift and her album in what he wore. Heading into the game and the locker room, Kelce sported an Orange Fendi look, which was a nod to Swift’s album. Just call it “The Life of the Showgirl” orange. Kelce also donned a white t-shirt, a pair of white sneakers and two gold necklaces.
The Chiefs took to social media to share Kelce’s look, and followers were swift, pun intended, to make comments about it. “That’s the life of a showgirl babe,” one follower said. “Showgirl promo still going strong,” another commented.
Taylor Swift Explains Why Orange is the ‘Showgirl’ Color
Swift officially announced that she chose the color orange for her “The Life of a Showgirl” era during her appearance on Travis and his brother Jason’s podcast, “New Heights,” in August. She said that it reflects the period during which she wrote the record.
“I’ve just always liked it, Jason,” she said. “It feels like kind of energetically how my life has felt. And this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this [Eras] Tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.”
She added of the symbolism of that pick, “I would leave the stage every night going down the elevator lift. That’s how every single Eras Show ended, except for one, except for the last one, where I exited through a door, an orange door to be specific. And that actually was an Easter egg.” Finally, Swift said, “Basically, the reason why I chose to exit that way is because I kind of wanted to give a little subliminal hint to the fans that I may be leaving the Eras Tour era, but I was also entering a new era.”
The Kansas City Chiefs’ next game is against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday on the road. From there, the team will enjoy their NFL bye week in Week 10.
