The lengthy absence of Kansas City Chiefs rookie offensive lineman Josh Simmons appears to be over. The 22-year-old first-round draft pick out of Ohio State reappeared at the Chiefs practice facility this week after suddenly departing the team just hours before a game against the Detroit Lions on October 12.
Simmons reportedly returned to his home in California to attend to what both coach Andy Reid and team owner Clark Hunt called a “private family matter,” though neither Reid nor Hunt â or any other team official â divulged any details on what the “family matter” might entail.
Reid also said that the team was in “communication” with Simmons during his absence.
But the team never added Simmons to the NFI (non-football injury) list, which would have allowed the team to fill Simmons’ roster spot while requiring him to sit out four games, the exact number he missed anyway.
Kelce Speaks on Feelings Toward Simmons
With Simmons now back with the team as the Chiefs entered their bye week, prior to taking on the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos in Week 11, Kansas City’s future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce took a moment to offer his feelings on Simmons Wednesday â hours before stepping out in New York City for an upscale date night with his fiancé, global pop megastar Taylor Swift.
On the New Heights podcast co-hosted by Kelce and his brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, the elder brother asked the Chiefs’ 13-year veteran about Simmons’ return.
“You guys are rolling right now,” Jason Kelce said â despite the fact the Chiefs lost on Sunday to their arch-rivals the Buffalo Bills 28-21. “You get Josh Simmons back. That’ll be good for the offensive line.”
“Hopefully,” Travis responded. “Let’s get my guy back in the building. Man, I missed my guy.”
Seen in Big Apple Wednesday Night
During a normal week during the regular NFL season, the Chiefs would be commencing practice and installation of their game plans for the upcoming weekend’s game, but with a bye week, that will not happen until next Wednesday.
Instead, Kelce took advantage of his free time after recording the latest edition of New Heights â which probably occurred on Tuesday before being posted the next day â to hit the town with Swift and one of New York’s high-end watering holes and eateries, the Polo Bar.
Though she skipped out on attending Kelce’s game in western New York state on Sunday, “Swift landed in New York City on Monday,” according to the New York Post Page Six.
Swift Arrives in Private Jet
“The ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker was spotted touching down at Morristown Airport in New Jersey alongside her security team,” Page Six reported. “Photographers captured the pop star shielding her appearance with a black umbrella as she exited her jet. She wore a pair of white track pants and a black sweatshirt. Later that evening, she was seen enjoying a girlsâ night out with Gigi Hadid.”
Swift reportedly owns a Dassault Falcon 7X private jet, described by GlobeAir.com as “a state-of-the-art trijet known for its exceptional performance and comfort. …designed with luxury and convenience in mind, accommodating up to 16 passengers. It features a spacious and quiet environment, large windows for natural light, and a customisable layout to suit personal preferences. Customizations include plush seating, entertainment systems, workspaces, and bespoke dining areas.”
The jet retails new for between $35 million and $45 million, according to AVBuyer.com. Though if Swift purchased a pre-owned model, she would have paid much less. Used Dassault Falcon 7X jets go for about $27.8 million depending on the manufacturing year.
