The full-back rifled a volley directly into the top-right corner from the edge of the box, leaving goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili stunned.
Kenan Yildiz thought he had doubled the advantage just a few moments later, but his effort was chalked off following a VAR intervention.
Forward Georges Mikautadze then made history by scoring Georgia’s first-ever goal at a major tournament.
However, the Georgian’s joy was short-lived when the ‘Turkish Messi’ Guler scored a decisive goal in spectacular style with 25 minutes to play.
It made him the youngest player to score on his debut at the Euros, breaking a record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo.
