Two members of Australia’s Women’s Cricket World Cup team were ‘touched inappropriately’ while in India for the tournament.

The incident occurred when the two Australian cricketers were walking to a café in Indore on Thursday, the morning after their victory over England.

Cricket Australia confirmed police were ‘handling the matter’ with the two players ‘approached’ by a motorcyclist, who has since been arrested.

Rajesh Dandotiya, additional deputy commissioner of police in Indore, said the individual followed the duo for ‘some distance’, making ‘lewd’ remarks.

Cricket Australia’s statement read: ‘We can confirm two members of the Australian Women’s Team were approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist while walking to a café in Indore.

‘The matter was reported by team security to police who are handling the matter.’

Dandotiya, speaking to BBC News Hindi, said: ‘The accused followed the women players for some distance and kept passing lewd remarks.

Australia, meanwhile, hammered South Africa in their final group-stage match of the tournament today (Saturday, October 25) in Indore.
