Tyler Herro Getting Blamed For Miami Heat Losing Streak

The Miami Heat have struggled since the team’s best offensive player Tyler Herro returned to the court from injury. Early success during Herro’s time on the injury report led to a shocking fast-paced style giving them more wins than expected. Miami looked like they could be a top four seed in the East with the chance at homecourt advantage if that level of play continued.

Unfortunately, the team has dropped five of the last six games to see all momentum slipping away. Herro’s return as the top offensive weapon changed the offense dynamic and has fans calling him out for the team’s decline. ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst chimed in saying Kel’el Ware and Jaime Jaquez have sacrificed progression for Herro’s return.

“Ware and Jaquez had bigger roles before Herro came back and [were] playing great,” Windhorst stated. “Since that has happened, in addition to league catching up, the two have lost their mojo a little bit.” Fans have been saying the same thing as Windhorst about Herro’s talent returning to the court not helping the team as much as they hoped for.

Heat Expert: Herro Will Be Traded

Few sports personalities have ties as deep to the Heat as radio host Dan LeBatard does. The Miami sports personality has covered almost every relevant Heat era of basketball over many decades.

LeBatard stated he thinks a short slate of games may have already decided Herro’s future for fans and the front office:

“I believe that Tyler Herro will be traded. The worst possible thing has happened to Tyler Herro, which is in the last 6 games, 5 of them have been lost by the Heat. And worse than that, all of the fun of ‘hey we score 140 points a game,’ disappeared as soon as he reappeared.”

Everyone took note of the Heat having arguably the best offense in the league during the early hot stretch. Miami changed their offensive identity with a new style that gave fans hope for a fun season. The decline in the win-loss column and overall entertainment factor each make Herro look like a problem rather than the solution he hoped to provide.

Could Herro Be Traded For Giannis?

Miami stands out as one of the best trade destinations for Giannis Antetokounmpo if he requests a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks. Herro would be the biggest name that the Heat would realistically send back. Bam Adebayo is considered the most untouchable name on the roster to keep him out of discussions.

Milwaukee would want a younger prospect like Ware to invest in for the future and have someone like Herro or Andrew Wiggins try to help them win games now. Herro is likely to be shopped since the Heat need a big move to get remotely close to contention for an NBA Championship as the roster currently stands.

The Orlando Magic eliminating Miami from the NBA Cup tournament was the toughest loss of the season. Herro’s struggles and the team seemingly moving on from the style that benefited him more in previous seasons could spell the end of his time with the Heat.
