The Romanian team waited for nearly 40 minutes – before Kosovo were given an extraordinary ultimatum
The referee ordered the Romania team to come out in full kit and blew the final whistle with the Kosovo* team still in the dressing room. Not a guarantee of anything but the decision very strongly suggests Romania will be awarded a 3-0 win by UEFA.
But in the end the hosts had to head off the pitch themselves to the dressing room.
It was understood the Kosovo team were then given an ultimatum to return.
Bu the eventual outcome remained unclear.
There was friction on the pitch before the walk-off in a traditionally-heated clash.
Romania’s Denis Alibec and away star Amir Rrahmani had to be pulled apart.
Trouble then erupted after the full 90 minutes were up, with the score still 0-0.
The Kosovo team and staff strode off after objecting to chants from the crowd.
Officials eventually told them to return , but that was in vain.
