Undrafted Giants Rookie Turning Heads with First Team Reps at Minicamp

Mandatory minicamp is in full swing for the New York Giants at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center with the team getting a closer look at rookies like Abdul Carter, Jaxson Dart, and Cam Skattebo ahead of training camp.

Yet, one undrafted Giants rookie has already caught the eye of one NFL writer after getting first team reps on Tuesday.

UDFA WR Beaux Collins Getting First Team Reps at Minicamp

USA Today New York Giants writer Art Stapleton took to X when UDFA WR Beaux Collins made some plays while getting first team reps during Tuesday’s practice session at mandatory minicamp.

Stapleton posted on X, “Beaux Collins getting reps with 1st team for Jalin Hyatt, who came off earlier with a trainer and was getting stretched. During 7/7 Collins caught TD on corner fade from Russell Wilson. Beaux Knows UDFA Success.”

Beaux Collins had a productive collegiate during his time at Clemson and Notre Dame, which led to 132 receptions for 1,780 yards and 14 touchdowns over his combined four years at these powerhouse programs.

Collins hoped his move to Notre Dame would result in more production than 41 receptions for 490 and three scores in 2024, but he was a consistent producer for a Fighting Irish team that fell just one win shy over a National Championship last season.

Collins 6’3” 201 pound frame falls into the prototypical size and length of a wide receiver in the NFL. Yet, his modest production profile and issues with drops combined with durability concerns with a plantar fascia and a sprained AC joint issue during his collegiate career likely contributed to him becoming available as an undrafted free agent at the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Collins catching touchdowns from projected starting quarterback Russell Wilson during mandatory minicamp certainly feels like a great first impression for a rookie wideout who faces an uphill battle to make the final roster ahead of his first year in the pros.

Jalin Hyatt Dealing with Potential Left Leg Injury

One of the reasons Beaux Collins was getting first team reps was after former Tennessee Volunteer WR Jalin Hyatt started favoring his left leg at practice on Tuesday.

Sports Illustrated’s Patricia Traina took to X on Hyatt’s injury posting, “Jalin Hyatt appeared to have something happen with his left leg. Looks Like he’s done for the day.”

Hyatt’s injury is one to monitor over the rest of mandatory minicamp, but doesn’t appear to be a threat to his status for the start of training camp at this time.

Hyatt saw significant regression in 2024 after making a modest contribution to the Giants’ passing game his rookie year.

Through his first two seasons in the NFL, Hyatt has just 31 receptions for 435 yards and no scores.

Admittedly, the Giants’ passing game hasn’t exactly been dynamic since Hyatt entered the league back in 2023. Yet, that didn’t stop Malik Nabers from registering 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven scores his rookie season with a combination of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito under center in 2024.

Hyatt and Collins will be competing with players like Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson for a consistent role in this passing game alongside Nabers in 2025.
