Unemployed former Premier League star, 34, brutally mocked by his own children in savage Father’s Day card

FORMER Premier League star Charlie Austin was given a cheeky Father’s Day card by his kids, mocking his unemployment.

Austin, 34, was released by League Two outfit Swindon Town last month after spending a year back with his former club.

The former Southampton and West Brom striker is now without a club as he looks to find a new home heading into next season.

And his family appeared to take a little dig at the forward in the form of a tongue-in-cheek Father’s Day card.

Austin shared a photo of a card from his family that read: “Unemployed on Fathers Day”.

The teasing gesture also featured a picture of Austin during his West Brom days surrounded by a huge red circle with a line through it.

Austin shared the snap of the card on his X account with the caption: “Happy Father’s Day – thanks kids x”.

Fans flooded the comments section of his post begging for him to sign for their clubs with the free agent still able to bag plenty of goals.

One wrote: “Join West Ham and rejoin your best friend Danny Ings please.”

While another added: “Come to Cheltenham!”

A third commented: “Come to Hungerford Town lad.”

And a fourth wrote: “Won’t be unemployed for long super Charlie.”

Austin scored 12 times and registered six assists in his 46 league appearances last term.

And he has already said he wants to continue playing.

In a statement on social media following his final game and release, he said: “I’m sure I will see you all again somewhere…

“As you saw Saturday, there’s plenty of life in the old dog yet!”

Austin made over 100 Premier League appearances in the earlier part of his career.

And the star even earned a call-up to the England squad in 2015, but failed to get on the pitch – warming the bench for the Three Lions’ clashes with Ireland and Slovenia.
