Vikings Announce Promising News Before Packers Game

The Minnesota Vikings could have two potential starters returning for their Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers on November 23 at Lambeau Field.

Jonathan Greenard (shoulder) and Kelly (concussion) both missed the contest against the Chicago Bears in Week 11. For Kelly, he is working his way back from concussions that have held him out since the team’s Week 4 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. As for Greenard, his shoulder injury came in Week 9 in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Turner stood out in Week 11’s loss to the Bears, but the Vikings’ chances in their must-win matchup against the Packers would get a considerable boost if Greenard returns.

Ahead of the Packers game, Greenard and Kelly are listed as questionable. Greenard, who did not practice on November 19, made progress with a limited session on November 20. Kelly, meanwhile, took encouraging steps with full practices on November 19 and 20.

“We’ll have two players with game status; designations for the game: Jonathan Greenard will be questionable, got in a limited day [on November 21],” head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters. “And then Ryan Kelly will also have that questionable tag, more of a procedural thing, but he will also have that tag for now.

“Nobody else will go in with a designation. So it feels good to have that group of five as a potential option at the offensive line position. I want to see how Ryan finishes out the week here, and we’ll keep you guys posted on his availability for the game.”

Other Injuries for Packers and Vikings Before Week 12 Clash

As for the other injuries on the Vikings team, Christian Darrisaw and Will Fries, both dealing with knee issues, are expected to be fully available for Sunday after missing practice earlier this week.

Meanwhile, running back Aaron Jones, who has been on the injury list with a shoulder concern, will face his former team in Week 12 without an injury designation.

On the Packers’ side, head coach Matt LaFleur told the media that star running back Josh Jacobs will be limited again on November 21. LaFleur noted that the decision to play Jacobs against the Vikings is “a collective decision always.” In addition to the November 21 practice session, Jacobs participated in the final two practices of the week.

Vikings Need a Win Over the Packers in Week 12

Whether Kelly and Greenard play remains to be seen, but the game against the Packers is crucial if the Vikings want to turn their playoff situation around. Jones is doing his best to set the tone within the squad and preach that this is a must-win game for them.

“I feel like every week is a must-win now,” Jones told reporters on November 19. “So I mean you’ll get that urgency from me and spreading that around to the guys, but as far as pressing, I feel like we don’t need to necessarily press anymore because that’s when guys start to press, they feel like they got to do more than their job and we just everybody just has to do their job.”
