Isaiah Rodgers Jr. is in a rift with the media after a report alleged that he wanted to leave the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason.
The cornerback is now with the Minnesota Vikings, who face the Eagles on Sunday. Rodgers will be facing his old team, where he won a Super Bowl last season.
“Lol don’t believe the media,” Rodgers said in a post X Wednesday. See yall Sunday (eight crying laughing emojis)”
What did the report say?
A report from Sports Illustrated on Tuesday said the Eagles prioritized bringing back Rodgers in the offseason and would have “at least” matched the Vikings offer, but it’s unclear if Rodgers management allowed a deal to happen.
“What is clear is that, instead of returning, he took the Super Bowl ring he won during his time in Philly and split,” wrote reporter Ed Kracz. “Never mind that the Eagles took a chance on him just days after the NFL suspended him for violating its gambling policy and stuck by him while serving his one-year suspension.”

Rodgers Commented on His Depature in June
But Rodgers provided some insight into his departure from Philadelphia when he attended a celebrity softball game hosted by receiver DeVonta Smith in June.
“It was hard,” said Rodgers, “but things happen in this business. You never know. It was a smooth process, but at the end of the day you have to do what’s best for your family.”
Rodgers said there’s still plenty of love between him and the Eagles’ front office and ownership.
Rodgers Has Chance to Make Statement
Philadelphia could be in trouble on Sunday if star cornerback Quinyon Mitchell can’t play. Mitchell injured his hamstring during last Thursday’s loss to the Giants, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said this week that his status remains uncertain.
Mitchell was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice.
Despite some recent struggles and the uncertainty surrounding Mitchell’s availability, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell had high praise for Philadelphia’s secondary, highlighting the play of healthy cornerbacks Adoree Jackson and Cooper DeJean.
“They’ve got some really talented guys on their front, really good linebackers, and I really like their young secondary. They’ve got a really good mixture of instincts and ball skills, and then just flat out good football players,” O’Connell said Wednesday.
Even so, Sunday offers Rodgers a chance to make a statement against his former team. The pressure will be on, though, as he’ll be tasked with covering Smith and A.J. Brown — two elite receivers who have yet to break out the way they consistently did last season.
Rodgers has been a standout for the Vikings, earning NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 3 after becoming the first player in NFL history to record an interception return for a touchdown, force a fumble and return that for a touchdown, and cause another fumble all in the same game.
He’s played 93 percent of the Vikings’ defensive snaps this season, recording 19 tackles in addition to his remarkable Week 3 performance.
