A Minnesota Vikings’ first-round fumble from back in the day has found another home in the NFL.

Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports, Laquon Treadwell has been signed to the 53-man roster of the Indianapolis Colts. Florio included that in order for the spot to be available for Treadwell, the Colts place All-Pro defensive tackle Deforest Buckner on injured reserve.

Laquon Treadwell was taken with the 23rd overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings out of Ole Miss. Treadwell was a prolific wide receiver for his alma-mater. He totaled 202 receptions for 2,393 yards and 21 touchdowns, per Sports Reference.

In his junior season of 2015, Treadwell made a name for himself.  He boasted 82 receptions for 1,153 yards, and 11 touchdowns. This performance got him to be a finalist for that year’s Biletnikoff Award. He also earned first-team All-SEC and All-American honors.

Laquon Treadwell’s 6’2, 210lb frame made him a very intriguing wide receiver prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Vikings decided to take a swing on Treadwell. At the time, they didn’t quite know what they had in the duo of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen quite yet.

Treadwell never quite caught on in Minnesota, and he was released after the 2019 season.

Treadwell has been with the Colts since 2024. He appeared in two games for Indy that season, spending a majority of the time on the practice squad.

The Colts gave him a reserve/future contract on January 6th, 2025. He was released from the team on August 26th, 2025 as part of final cuts. The Colts then signed him to the team’s practice squad two days later on August 28th.

Laquon Treadwell will be walking into a great situation. The Indianapolis Colts sit at a 7-2 record and are currently the 2nd seed in the AFC.
