The Minnesota Vikings‘ receiving corps looked to take a blow when new free agent acquisition, wideout Rondale Moore, went down after big hit during Saturday’s pre-season game against the Houston Texans.
Moore’s injury status was not revealed immediately after the game, although the issue was considered to be “pretty significant” by head coach, Kevin O’ Connell.
An Instagram story that did not give major insights into his health-state followed, but now it seems that the team has revealed what the prognosis is for Moore – and it is not good news.
Rondale Moore does in fact have e a season-ending injury, per the team. Roster move coming. Just awful for him. https://t.co/t9pCNabfmd

Rondale Moore Confirmed Out For The Season
This is the second time in as many years that Moore will not see a single snap in the regular season, after he missed all of 2024 due to a dislocated right knee
And what’s more, his issue now comes from the other side; his left knee; so it is just a second freak injury in the span of almost exactly one whole year.
When it was revealed that the injury was to his knee – and after O’Connell’s pessimistic words post-game – it never felt like Moore would be able to avoid missing substantial time in this upcoming year. And it turned out the result was about as bad as it could possibly be, with the former second round pick having to once again sit out an entire season.
What Is Next For Rondale Moore?
The former Cardinals second round pick signed a 1 year, $2 million “prove it” deal with the Vikings this past offseason, after playing out the final year of his rookie deal with the Falcons, with whom he suffered his first devastating knee injury.
Despite being a top-50 draft pick back in 2021, the shifty Purdue grad’s career never really got going in Arizona, even during his healthier spells. Expected to have a ceiling as one of the more agile slot receivers in all of football, Moore never managed to surpass his rookie total of 435 receiving yards and one touchdown.
In his subsequent years with the organization, Moore stayed relatively consistent, producing 414 and 352 yards in the receiving game, along with a decent 178 rushing yards in his final year with the organization in 2023.
Minnesota was hopeful that Moore could come in and immediately form a cogent challenge to incumbent, Jalen Nailor‘s role as the WR3 in the slot, along with rookie third round pick, Tai Felton.
Unfortunately for the Indiana native, he will once again not have the opportunity to compete in another offense in which he had a legitimate shot at getting a significant amount of snaps.
Hopefully his recovery goes well, and – aged still just 25 – Moore can come back and once more compete on an NFL roster.
